I moved out of my apartment because of poor maintenance and management.
Here are some examples.
When I moved in I requested to have maintenance performed. The manager said my concerns would be taken care of. They were not. There are still loose wires in the master bedroom that have not been tacked down, a shelf in the bathroom is pulling off the wall and may hit somebody in the head. The walls in the apartment are dirty and stained. In general the apartment was dirty and dusty when I moved in. The woman who had showed it to me had said that it would be cleaned before I moved in. It was not. Sparks fly out of electrical outlets when items are plugged in. I often saw rats scampering across the parking lot. The garbage dumpster overflows every week. In late summer the HVAC system filled the hall and part of the living room with an inch of water. I mopped it up, shut off the air conditioning and left a message for maintenance. No maintenance was performed and my call was not returned. I called again leaving another message suggesting that the health department would be more helpful than KPA management. Then maintenance was performed. By then the floor in the hallway was already warped and damaged.
On Sunday, February 5th I was doing laundry in your coin operated Laundromat. When smoke started coming out of the dryer I called the fire department. Neighbors put the fire out with an extinguisher, unfortunately after my towels and sheets had turned to ash. The firemen came and cleared smoke from the building. They noted that the dryer was not properly maintained, the venting was clogged and not venting to the outdoors. They also noted that only one smoke alarm was working. Most smoke gathered on the upper floors but only the first floor alarm went off.
