It's the GHETTO.
I didn't and never would live there -- but I did live in an apartment community diagonal from this community. Fires and murders and everything else in between.
It's like my granddad used to say, you can slap a new coat of paint on it but a junk heap is still a junk heap... therefore, a ghetto is going to remain a ghetto.
The best thing they could do to renovate is emplode and start all over -- and raise the bar on their rents -- it might bring them residents that are along the lines of the other communities surrounding them. they stick out like a sour thumb.

I have lived in this community (non-remodled section) for the past 3 months and this is no comparison to the ghetto!! My neighbors are friendly and I am not scared to walk to my car late at night. You have never lived in this complex so how can you provide and insight on what it is like to live there??

I'm sorry but I lived there for 2 years, moved because of the renovations and yes it is the ghetto. It was noisy at all hours of the night, there was vandalism, criminals wanted by the law living across from me and murder took place. The office staff were incompetent and rude. I moved a 1/2 mile away and it's like I moved to a whole other world cause let me say that these people could teach the management there a few good lessons.

In looking at these reviews and considering the responses I decided to research the police reports for the area myself. I didn't find any reports of shootings nor murders in the past 9 months. Furthermore I researched the surrounding area complexes. It appears that Hickory Creek had seemingly more incidents reports that were cleared by arrest than did Legacy at Mayland. The other complexes had quite a lengthy list also. Check it out for yourself on the Henrico County Police website. There is a link on the home page for "Public Data Access". It will take you to a page that has a link to select to Search Incident/Crime Reports. On the incident crime reports page enter a date range and then enter a "Small Reporting Area" number to search. The number for Legacy at Mayland is 753. This will pull up all of the reports for your date range. You can enter other 3 digit numbers to search other areas. Hickory Creeks is 757. So I guess the conclusion would be that crime is evident everywhere. I don't feel any eminent danger in living in this complex nor area.

yeah richmond is horribly unsafe no matter where you are, you're basically screwed is you live within 5 miles of the city. Richmond national awards: #5 in violent crime, #1 in gonorrhea, #632 of best places to live.
