Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I would like to this time to voice some concerns I have with Legacy at Mayland. First, since the day that I moved in, there has been a drainage issue in front of my building. The slightest bit of rain forms a puddle of standing water any where from ???? to almost reaching my patio door kick plate. I made several attempts to have this problem fixed, with no such success. Finally, I was forced to take a few pictures of the entrance way to my apartment and bring them to your leasing office. As I showed them to a staff member it was almost as if I was bothering her and her daily office duties. She failed to fill out any type of work order, compliant file, etc.; she just pushed me off to the maintenance staff. In defense of the maintenance staff they tried to dig a trench of some sort to redirect the standing water. My advice would be to hire a grading company and permanently and correctly fix this problem.
My second complaint towards Legacy of Mayland is the lack of adequate parking. A few months ago your community had the roadways resurfaced and also re-lined the parking spaces. As a result, many parking spaces have been eliminated, which in turn leaves your tenants with NO place to park. Many have been towed away or given tickets by Henrico County Police. There seems to have been absolutely NO effort to build parking areas or redesign existing parking areas. I spoke with a neighbor the other night on this very topic. He told me that he had gone out of town for two days, leaving his wife and three year old son by themselves. Because of this situation, she was forced to park on the complete opposite side of the complex and walk back to her apartment at night. I would not want that on my conscience, had something happened to them due to ??lack of ample parking?? in front of their building. But, I guess they had already paid rent and it wasn??t really that big of a deal.
Finally I would like to say that Legacy at Mayland quite possibly could have the most condescending and contentious human beings I have ever met. As you know, you are in a customer service type of industry. That??s what sells your community. Unfortunately, you must continue that service throughout the term of the tenants?? lease. It seems to me once the contract is signed; all the staff is concerned with is the check at the beginning of the month. What upsets me the most is the fact that the staff thinks that everyone is some kind of degenerate of society. I would heed these words, these degenerate??s rent checks, pay your hourly wage. If you do not believe me please check the following link for more tenant comments over your attitude and the way you handle yourselves with the residents.

I have found that if you see it on a public site (web page, blog, bulletin board, etc.) it has a bigger effect. Who knows, you might even change your attitude and demeanor.
In conclusion, I realize that this letter is not what you want from a tenant. I also have accepted the fact that you probably will not refund my deposit back because of this letter. Even thought you will find my apartment in better condition then when I moved in. With that said I have also sent a copy to your corporate office for their review. Maybe if you personally can??t fix the external and internal problems with Legacy at Mayland, your corporate office will find someone more suited for the job.
