I just signed my lease yesterday, and the leasing agent was so incredibly helpful and friendly. She made the whole process so painless for me and was so patient (with this being my first apartment, I was a little anxious).

I don't move in until two weeks from now, but I did tour the complex. It is very well-maintained -- the grounds were spotless, there was plenty of parking from what I could tell, and the hallways didn't have that smell some have complained about. The finishes on everything are very high quality -- I included some pictures of my new apartment for you to see.

Yes, the rent is a little steep -- but higher class generally means higher prices. Also, you don't have to pay for any utilities (or go through the hassle of setting them up). Internet is wired and not wireless (trust me...its better to use your own wireless router than to rely on a public AP).

Also, they were flexible and gave me a 9-month lease (something that I found rare on my apartment hunt this weekend).

I'll repost a while after I've settled in -- but I feel pretty optimistic that my experience will be a pleasant one.

Oh, and while the washer/dryer units might be a little small, there is a public laundry room available with full-size units that are free to use (just in case you accumulate a lot of dirty laundry).
