I moved to Richmond in March of 2006 into a complex right behind the Madison, and immediately wished I had found the Madison sooner! A year later I moved into the Madison with my boyfriend for a major perk: a resident owns a pet daycare and they have a bus that picks up the pooches every morning and drops them off at night at the clubhouse. Residents of the Madison get a discount, less than $20/day. The complex is in a great location, I feel, across from one of the largest malls in the area, a Walmart, Target, Bank of America, etc. There is a grocery store and bar within walking/stumbling distance, and the complex holds events to try and get everyone to mingle (happy hours, BBQs, bowling, tickets to the comedy club, holiday decorating contests, etc.). The staff have always been extremely helpful and pleasant, and always greet me and my dog by name when I stop in. I read another posting that mentions the traffic in the area and yes, congestion here is a bit frustrating, especially during the holidays.

If you live with another person the rent is a great value for what you get. If you don't own a washer/dryer, you can use the ones on site or rent them each month for about $35. My part of the rent for a 2-bedroom with the W/D rental is $555 per month, absolutely phenomenal for the Short Pump area. We use gas heat, which can get somewhat expensive and it seems the utility bill is all over the place- very hard to give an average estimate. Unfortunately I am now in the market for a one-bedroom and I asked to see what was available. One bedrooms, the smallest ones, go for $880 a month! I love this place but that is just too much for me by myself. If you work at Capital One, you're maybe a 5-10 minute drive from both their Innsbrook and West Creek locations, and would be able to afford the rent on your own just fine from what I hear. This really is a great place, I'm going to miss it!!
