Nice apartment, but very noisy

The apartment itself is quite nice. Deep bathtubs, crown molding, light and airy. Aside from that, I haven't enjoyed living here and will be breaking my lease to move elsewhere. I'm not a dog person, and this is most definitely a dog community. The clientele is also a bit younger than I expected. I epxected an older, more upscale community. There are a lot of people straight out of college living here...a lot of people hanging out late at night in a garage, smoking and drinking. Not excessively loud, and very nice people, but the hallways are made of cement and quite echoey, so yes, you can hear what's going outside. I'm on the bottom floor, and have hard every footstep made in the apartment above me. In fact the windows shake when someone walks around. I think that's the biggest detraction. the previous tenants had 2 dogs that constantly ran back and forth, and they were tiny dogs! I mentioned it in passing once the a neighbor (it turned out to be the one that lived above me) and he couldn't believe that his little dogs could make so much noise. for the first month we had no idea what was going on up there, and guests visiting to babysit remarked on it as well. It sounds like somebody rolling bowling balls back and forth or something.
Other complaints: the air conditioner is horrendously loud. These has been a blessing and curse because I have a 2 year old toddler, and it's gotten him acclimated to weird noises, but always having to adjust the volume of your tv gets old.
People drive through the parking lot at very dangerous speeds. there really should be speed bumps and I know this is a big complaint, but in the latest newsletter, they addressed it and said it was not likely that speed bumps will be put in. I don't feel safe with a toddler around here.
So, if you like dogs and are younger and don't mind dorm-like noise levels, it may be for you. If you are expecting luxury living, don't expect it.

I agree with the noise levels. I live on the 2nd floor and have to constantly use a broom to knock my roof to tell my noisy neighbors to walk slowly. Not sure about the air conditioner being too loud, as its fine in my apartment. And this community indeed needs speed bumps as there are too many young crazy teenage drivers living in this community. But all in all, I was pretty satisfied with this community. If not for the extremely high rent for 1 BR apartment, I would have probably extended my lease.
