Best Safest West End Complex

I have lived at the Mark @ Maple Run for a year now. It is a nice starter apartment for anyone who is single, and doesn't have large furniture that will take up a lot of room. The apartments are very well kept, and the landscaping crew keeps it looking nicely year-round with fresh weekly cut grass in the warm months, and well maintained facilities. Maintenance is always there within the same business day to address any call-in requests for service. The leasing staff, and maintenance gentlemen are nice; however, the manager Lisa is very straightforward and direct which sometimes can come across as rude and short. But overall, they are awesome set of men/women who run the office and grounds. The value for the money is exceptional for the area. The lighting at night allows enough for you to not have to feel as if you are unsafe. The location to the hospital, and being off Parham adds a nice touch. The utilities can be quite steep, especially the water bill which they use a outside company in Texas. The electricity bill is average, unless you use a lot of heating/cooling in the months. The clubhouse is somewhat small, but the tanning bed, and outside patio table area's are nice in the warm months when you want to relax and read the paper. Parking is always nice too, you can generally part right outside your buildings view. Another thing that is appealing is that the buildings house 4 units, which eliminates excessive units in one building with people running up, and down the steps, and slamming doors. I lived on the first floor because the stairwells are quite narrow, and it is cheaper by like $20. The units range in size. I rented a one bedroom/bath. My original pick was a studio but the only thing appealing about that was the big wide kitchen. I didn't like the idea of everything being smashed in the middle and no dividers and a stackable washer/dryer that I might be able to get two pair of jeans in. The appliances match in color scheme and include dishwasher, refrigrator, in-sink disposal, and full size washer/dryer, and also a ceiling fan. There is a nice fireplace with mantle, but it is only for looks which is somewhat ironic. The bathroom was a fairly good size, but I hated the fact that the fan was connected to the light switch so it always ran. (Which I later ignored) I would suggest this complex to anyone if asked, I chose to move from this complex because I wanted taller ceilings, larger square footage, and to be closer to downtown. Overall, I would again live here if I chose to move back to the west end. A free carwash area also added a nice touch when you wanted to detail your Cadillac, or B.M.W. in the hot sun!
