I completely agree. I moved here in February of 2008 and did not realize how many people hang out in the parking lots until it started to get warm. Another thing that came along with the warm weather were spider crickets. Now I know why Morningside offers exterminator services twice a month! We tried it once but it only helps for about a week.
Children around here have no respect. I've caught them sitting on my car a few times. The adults around here are just as bad. They play their music from their cars ridiculously loud. I've even had to call security on one of my neighbors for a noise complaint... twice!
Maintenance is horrible! I've only ever had severe problems fixed right away (broken water lines that flooded my entire downstairs and a broken washing machine). I feel that any other maintenance request is ignored. I photo copy every request I submit and have a staff member sign it so that when I leave, I at least have proof that I attempted to get the job done.
I had an issue with my garbage disposal, but it was fixed when my dad came over one weekend. A few months later, Morningside tells us that we owe them $30 for fixing the disposal! This really made me mad because there was no proof that it was fixed because the maintenance guy never left a note like they're supposed to. (So I basically had someone enter my home without my knowledge) According to Morningside records, the date they claimed that the disposal was fixed was after the date my dad had fixed it! Who charges for maintenance anyway?!
My lease ended in February of this year (2009), but since I graduated from college in December and was still unemployed, I was forced to renew. I only renewed for six months though and I cannot wait to leave.
If you happen to decide to stay here (which I don't recommend at all), at least save your money and don't pay the pet fee! I see plenty of dogs around here that are clearly over the weight limit and some are even restricted breeds! It seems pretty easy to hide that fact that you have a dog! :-)
