I've been living at Oaks for a few months now and have really enjoyed this community thus far. The one area the staff prides theirselves on is service and they offer amazing service. Have coffee/cookies everyday in the club house, offer community activities from time to time, distribute a newletter each month and always make you feel inviting when you communicate with them.
The one thing I enjoy most is the on-site dog park. Not many communities have them and having a very enegetic dog I knew that was a must for me. Tennis courts and a play ground for kids is also an added benefit. The weight room is ample for most everyone's needs. Dumbbells up to 55lbs are great and the TVs mounted on each of the aerobic machines (eliptical, treadmill, stairmaster) with headphone jacks are wonderful! I also enjoy the car wash area they have with 2 hoses & vacuum. Unlike a lot of the new construction that have little "home" feel Oaks is older construction with the trees, abundance of squirrells, wood siding and all around "woodsy" feel it makes me feel tucked away in a neighborhood.
Garbage bins are located all around the community which makes it a short walk to discard my trash and they are never overfilled. Parking can be limited at times but 95% of the time I am able to park right in front of my apartment. My mailbox is located right outside my door as each building has their mail delivered on-site. I love that each building is either 2 or 3 floors with no more than 8-12 apartments per building.
Short Pump Town Center is a short 2 miles up the road and any convenience you need is within a 1-2 miles radius (shopping, gas stations, grocery(Ukrops,FoodLion, Kroger, Wal-Mart), dry cleaning, Banking, etc..)
The only downsides I would have to say would be the size of the apartments. Being an older community even the largest apartment offered feels small. I came from a 950SqFt 1BR apt and now that size is compacted to fit 2 BR. BUT the insides of a lot of the apartments have been fully renovated (stainless appliances, new lighting, carpeting) and are very nice. An amazing find of these apartments is, even though it's older, each bedroom has a big walk-in closet, which was another "must" on my list. Also, I can hear my neighbors and their TVs/stereo when they are on, even if it's not very loud but that is expected in any apartment complex I think so don't really understand why people make this complaint. You move into an apartment with people living 5 feel above, below and to the side of you so it's common sense you're going to hear some noise.
Overall I would have to say for the short time I've lived here I have fully enjoyed myself. I have met a lot of wonderful neighbors and love the "feel" of this community.

I totally agree with everything this reviewer says. I have been living here for almost 2 years now. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I will have to move out of this place in couple of months, and I am definitely going to miss it.
