I moved here last year. I wish I never came. It is horrible. The homes are nice, and the property is okay. HOWEVER, Drug dealers, gangsters, and just plain ghetto people are crawling over the property. The poor Latinos here are robbed ALL THE TIME. The old security guard, let people in the neighborhood to ROB people. There is always some sort of dramatic unfolding with the police. The kids are mean, most of the parents here don't care. I seen only one parent call the police on a regular basis. I feel bad for her, alot of the crap in the neighborhood is blamed on her kid, because i think they are the only Caucasians that live here. Why they picked this place is beyond me. The neighborhood is racist against anyone NOT ------- American. Young children smoke, drink, and run a muck around here, and the rental office CHASES these kids''''' the apt manager literally chases them around. what exactly she was going to do to them when she caught them, is also, beyond me.
It rains in my apt too, the door leaks, ROACHES are everywhere. one of the neighbors had a hole in her floor, for months, not a little hole either. a HUGE gaping hole in her kitchen floor. like animals could get threw there, and I was told that we are to feed the stray cats that roam about, so that when summer time comes around, they eat the rats''''''' yeah glad im leaving, good bye forever ghetto, im not comeing back...

Iam leaving NYC an considering Overlook even if it's just for one year.Being from NY I've learned the "hood" mentality but have always been above it.I am considering the Overlook for myself and my well behaved yet tough 12 year old daughter.Even if it's just for one year until I learn Virginia.Should I Overlook the Overlook?

No if you want to stay above your hood mentally then do not move there. Dealing with the people there you will find yourself in situations that will make you go ghetto on people. Trust me and it is not just the neighbors but the office people and the thieving maintanence team that come in your apartment whether you want them to or not and steal your cash and jewlery. They wait untill you leave and go through your stuff.
