Safe area, but close to chain restaurants (Fridays, Olive Garden, etc), downtown (VCU) and shopping (Glen Allen). I moved in a little while, and love it! Staff and neighbors are friendly, not overly loud. Some maintenance issues when I moved it (leaking faucets, scratched walls/counters, bad keys), but fixed in a timely manner. Good parking, trash and laundry on-site and as clean as to be expected. Good discounts for employees of select companies, and students. Highly recommended!
