Where should I begin! First, it took management 5 months and me calling the Fire Marshall to get management to finally fix our fire alarm. Our first floor apartment has backed up gas from the sewage lines that bubble up in the toilet and smells horrible. We had a flee infestation when we moved in and management told us they would fix the problem, but they never did. We ended up having to buy $45 worth of flee bombers to get rid of the problem ourselves. Management lied to us about our move in date. They had to give us a temporary apartment in some run down townhouse that didn't have a lock on the front door, so my roommate and I had to spend the night on the floor for 2 days to make sure that no one stole our stuff. Management never replaced our carpet which has a large sticky stain about the size of a beach ball in the middle of the living room and cigarette burn holes in areas of the living room and both bedrooms. The wall next to our apartment outside in the main hallway had a leak in the pipe line. Flooded our apartment s kitchen and my roommate s room and warped the lower cabinets (we can no longer open our dishwasher, it's permanently closed shut). Management told us that it was from the sink that had overflowed in the apartment next door. BS... that much water isn't going to come from a sink back up. Water pipe still leaks a small amount to this day. Management just changes the ceiling tile when it gets moldy enough that potential renters may start to notice. Management promised to steam clean my roommate s carpet after the flooding, which took them 2 months after the incident had occurred, and a nasty email to the entire Henry Briggs office to finally get someone to react. By then my roommate s carpet had begun to grow a weird white mold along the baseboard. Parking is $60 a month and the towing company that the Henry Briggs company uses takes 6 to 9 hours to respond, that s if they respond at all. Management doesn't always give proper notice before they enter your apartment. Imagine the shock of getting out of the shower and seeing an old 50 something year old maintenance guy standing in your living room. He said that he was there to check the garbage disposal because of a reported problem. Problem is you have to walk through the kitchen to get into the living room. The garbage disposal is in the kitchen and I still can't figure out why he was in the living room turned toward my bedroom door right as I came out of my room. The kitchen is the other direction. Let's just say that I shower with my pepper spray in close reach now. And finally, the windows are cheap. They lose heat easily. So the bedroom with two windows is completely freezing and the bedroom with one window is steaming hot. .... Oh and rent has a tendancy to increase by about $75 to $100 a year.
