Overall, an excellent apartment building in a good location; highly recommended. The apartments have what is expected from a converted building: exposed brick, pipes, and beams, original hardwood floors, and high ceilings. There are also some welcome features not often found in comparable apartments: granite counters, ample cabinet and closet space, excellent appliances (huge fridge, great range), and a full-size washer and dryer. Unlike some of the larger buildings in the area, the hallways are spacious, hardwood, and adorned with furniture and other accessories, and so you don't feel as if you're living in an apartment building, or worse yet, a dorm.
The on-site building manager is a great asset in terms of having someone available 24/7, who actually lives in the building and thus has an interest in being as responsive as possible. The few complaints I had over the course of my tenancy were addressed in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
Location is right next to both a well-stocked CVS and a grocery store, as well as two blocks from two excellent restaurants that are among Richmond's best. Given the construction in the neighborhood, the area should keep improving in the years to come.
