I had an appointment this morning to meet with the property manager and look at an apartment. I took time off from work and walked about 12 blocks to be there. After waiting outside the locked entrance for a few minutes, I tried calling the Assistance number on the intercom-phone by the door. I got a voice mail and the sound kept cutting in and out so I couldn't even understand what the voice mail said. I used my cell phone to call the business office. I'm pretty sure that the woman who answered is the same person I had made the appointment with. When I told her that I was waiting outside the building, she said, "Oh, there's nobody over there."

Me: "But I have an appointment to meet someone here and look at an apartment."
Her: "Oh."
(Long silent pause.)
Me: "So I should assume that the appointment is canceled'"
Her: "You can make another appointment. Call back in an hour."

Yeah. I'll do that.
