I have lived in this apartment, which has gone through 2 property managers, for about 1 1/2 years. The first 8 months wasnt to bad compared to the other 10 months. First off, the elevator was not working when we moved in, so we had 2 carry everything up the stairs which to the 2nd floor is about 40 steps and to the 3rd floor is another 40 steps. The elevator is always broken and disgusting. They don't clean the elevator besides maybe a sweep. So there is hand prints, food and drinks all over the floor. They don't clean or mop the hallways. Someone broke a light in the stairway about 2 months ago and its still broken. Internet and cable is included in rent, but we did not get our internet and cable until 4 months into the lease. As a college student, it was extremely inconvenient to not have the internet that I paid for, so I had to go to campus to use the internet.What else' My roommate found mouse droppings and she called multiple times for an exterminator, and she told us they have not found a "good priced" exterminator yet. So after calling every week for 2 months and no action, it took a threat to file a escrow account to get a phone call and someone out to the apartment within 30 minutes. And thats if anyone picks up. They never pick up the phone even if you call Artcraft management (who manages president walks) they dont return phone calls either. They also are never in their office. Their office always has a "be back at 11am" sign and I've been there multiple times after the time they have up of when they'll be back and they are never there. What else....maintenance never comes. You actually have to make an appointment with maintenance for them to come out. Theres always people doing construction on the roof and they dont tell us when there are going to be people on the roof. This wouldn't be a problem if they provided us with blinds. They just installed blinds about 2 months ago (after living here since January of 2008)and the strings that control the blinds are to high that you can't reach them. After installing blinds, they put notes in our doors telling us to take down curtains that are on the outside of the blinds or else they would take them down for us. Mind you the reason why majority of the people that have curtains up is because we were not provided with blinds. Also, along with the internet and cable problems, everyone on my floor was receiving bills from the internet and cable provider, since internet and cable is included in rent we called management asking why we were getting these bills. Multiple times they told us to disregard the bills. After 1 year they finally told us we were supposed to be paying the box fee, so what should of been simply a $6 monthly fee totaling $72, came to over $120 because of late fees and management telling us to disregard the bills. Then also the walls are paper thin so you can pretty much hear everything going on in the hallways and the room next door including your neighbors. Parking is the worst. It makes me not want to drive because I dont want to lose my parking spot where ever it is, from out front (which there is about 3 or 4 spots) to 5 blocks away. These are just the issues I can think of right now. None of the neighbors that I have spoken to have planned on renewing their lease because of these issues. The only one I knew to renew their lease is because they came from somewhere worse, but honestly I don't know how much worse it could be compared to this place.
