Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009
I lived in Squire Hill II for approximately 2.5 years before recently moving to Midlothian. It was a tough decision to move because Squire Hill is close to EVERYTHING! I could get to most destinations in under 15 minutes. Now my travel time has more than doubled! Bleh!
My neighbors were warm and friendly, which is definitely not the case in my new "luxury apartment." I really miss that. Oh yeah, now I have to pay water/sewer separately, which is another bill to track each month. The only bill you have to pay at Squire Hill is electric (and your cable, cell, etc. of course).
I, personally, have nothing but kudos for the rental office staff. Every time I had an issue, they handled it quickly and efficiently. Joy, the Property Manager, was also incredibly flexible and looked out for my best interest before I moved (I could not decide whether to buy a house or continue renting at SHII or move) and worked with me through several lease extensions.
Many nights I would walk my dogs late at night, sometimes as late as midnight. I never felt threatened or in danger. They recently installed additional lighting on my row of buildings, which is nice. I think there were a couple of incidents while I lived there, but a man was recently shot and killed by SWAT at my new complex, where rents start at $915/month. So, you may experience drama anywhere.
The deciding reason for my move was due to the need for additional space. If I didn't need more room, I would have stayed at Squire Hill. I would recommend these apartments.
