DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!

Well, how can I even begin to explain my experience living at Treehouse' First and foremost, let me begin by stating that I would not recommend Treehouse Apartments to my worse enemy.

The Office Staff: The office staff is very rude (at least most of them). There has been an exception in the case of a few employees (i.e., Joy), however I don?t think many of them are employed there anymore. Since I moved into the complex, which has only been a short period of time, they?ve already had three managers. They?re all leaving after only a few months at Treehouse.

The Community: It is full of college students and locals. The college students aren?t the problem, however the locals are the problem. There has been a series of robberies (automobile and apartment). My apartment actually got broken into last year. The staff was not very cooperative with regards to this incident. There have even been a few shootings and one murder as I can recall. GSC attempted to improve the appearance of the community by adding vinyl siding to Colonial apartments. However, they overlooked Treehouse during this process. The outside of the apartment buildings look horrible. The sun has faded most of the wood structures and most of them are even beginning to rot. It seems as if they don?t even care about the appearance of the apartments. The inside of the buildings are even worse. The carpet in the hallways is dirty, there is graffiti on the walls and the hallways tend to have a very unpleasant odor. It is also important to add that the major pizza chains do not deliver to Treehouse. They will only come to the office. Therefore, if you want a pizza delivered, you?ll have to meet them at the office to pick it up. Some others only go as far as Colonial and will not even deliver to Treehouse residents. The only pizza co. that will deliver is a mom and pop restaurant.

The Apartments: The apartments are very old. They have old cabinetry with old-fashioned, green countertops, refrigerators and ranges. Yes, you heard me correctly old-fashioned, GREEN countertops, refrigerators and ranges. This lets you know the age of the apartments. The walls within the apartments are also a mess. Instead of repainting all of the walls when a tenant moves, they only paint over the spots and wall punctures. As a result, there are highly visible spots of retouched paint all over the apartments, which helps contribute to the already gloomy appearance. The bathrooms are very small and only contain the toilet and bathtub. The sinks are not located in the bathrooms, which I hated very much. The carpets are also very badly stained. To make matters worse, there is even carpet (dark blue or burgundy?..remember that the countertops are green) in the kitchens. I have never seen an apartment or any type of living quarter with carpet in the kitchen. I never used my dishwasher when I lived there because it was too gross to actually use. Also, it seems as if every month or every other month there is a fire in the complex, which seems to reveal signs of some faulty wiring in the buildings. Due to the age of the apartments, I wouldn?t doubt it. However, I do not recommend moving into an apartment over by the exercise facility (which is not really an exercise facility?a few bikes and treadmills do not constitute a fitness center) because most of the fires take place over there. All in all, the apartments were not up to par.

So, with all this being said, why would anyone want to live at Treehouse' It is very cheap and I took that approach when deciding to live here. However, don?t let the free utilities and price fool you. These incentives are not worth the worry and restless nights (oh, did I mention that the walls are paper-thin. You can actually hear your neighbor?s radio, hear their telephones ringing and sometimes even hear their conversations. I kid you not!!!) GSC realizes the horrible condition of Treehouse. Therefore, they sign a contract with the local universities to maintain occupancy within this complex. I partially fault VCU and VUU because they are contracting with such a complex to provide housing for their students and I believe that this is something that should be addressed at these two universities. Personally, I would not want my son or daughter living in such a community, let alone such horrible conditions.

So, for anyone out there contemplating moving to Treehouse, I give you this advice, DON?T!!!!!! However, if you are a risk-taker and still do not believe any of the postings on this site, be my guess. I guarantee that you will be posting a similar review next year upon termination of your lease.
