Worst Place to Live EVER!!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 11/13/2005
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I lived in Treehouse for three years, as I was placed there as an overflow transfer student by VCU.
The perks:
Water and gas are included
You can pay a little more in rent and have your electricity and furniture included as well.
For a first apartment, it was not a bad size. The cabinets everywhere are cheap, and the appliances are old, I am talking pea green from the 1960s and the counters are pea green too!! If you are lucky enough to get a renovated apartment, those aren't so bad- that is what we moved into.
I had a one bedroom apartment and all of the rooms are kind of small. The apartment is weird in that it is really long and not so wide. The table/bar that divides the galley kitchen from the living room is crooked on one side, and the wall that divides the bedroom and the living room is crooked too... it really does look like the drawing in the floorplan- we thought someone just didn't make a straight line, but the walls really are crooked.
The bad stuff:
It is in a bad location.
There is a lot of crime, especially since we left apparently. There was a stabbing, and we always hear gun shots. The polic basically camp out there- it made me feel a lot safer walking into my building at night and seeing them there.
The hallways are dirty, but don't you dare blame that on the college students!! The blame should be placed on the crack-whores that live there, the drug dealers, the people who stand on your balcony and pee onto your sidewalk because they are drunk, and throw bottles down to break right on top of them.
There was a pile of mulch that was outside of our apartment 12 months out of the year- kids would ride tabogans down it when it snowed- right into oncoming traffic!!
I have to say- what do you expect when you live on the bus line. The kind of trash that makes its way to wherever the bus serves... it is disgusting. I never had any problems with the college crowd- mostly we all feared for our lives in that community!! We had to call the cops at least 50 times in the three years that we lived there.
I would never move here again, I would never recommend anyone moving there, or to any GSC run apartment actually- it is not just the apartment complex staff that is incompetent, but it is the entire management company itself. The one requirement that we did not waver on when we moved out of Treehouse was that we would not move into another apartment run by GSC.
Save yourself the pain and headaches (and perhaps your life!). Don't move into Treehouse.
