Years at this apartment:

We only lived here for a year and had so many problems that we just got fed up. To start, we were told this was student community...NOT. Coming from a rural area, we wanted a safe environment since Richmond was very new to us, and honestly, I have never felt more unsafe. In the year we were here we have had on average 1 notice a month about either a theft or shooting placed on our door, we were practically next door to a police shootout with our neigbor (who we are assuming got caught, considering the police were in the area until 3:00 in the morning), we have been called by the police several times and told not to leave our home, and we have listened to our neighbors (who obviously have some marital issues) try to break into their apartment several times. On top of that, on move-in day our stove literally blew up about an hour after we arrived. Maintenance, after promising to replace it, took 2 weeks to replace the stove. Our roof has leaked for three weeks, and even after repeated attempts to get it fixed we still are sleeping on an air mattress in the living room. Lastly, the fire engines go through every day, and small wonder. We had an outlet that was sparking (even without anything plugged in) for 3 months. Maintenance actually came in, said they replaced the outlet, and left. No effect, as we found out from a different maintenance guy that the first man actually didn't do anything. This lasted for three months, during which we wondered if the place was going to burn down any minute. In general, never move here if you value your own safety and the safety of your belongings.
