I have read several of these reviews, both befoore I moved in and prior to renewing my lease. While some the issues within the community are true most of them are issues the residents make for themselves. I personally have never had a problem within the community. I stay pretty much to myself and am only polite with my neighbors. I moved here with the intent on making a home for myself not to hang out and be in everyone's business. That is the problems start.
Yes, the buildings are old, the kids are noisy in the summer, and parking in front or anywhere near your building on the weekends can be like musical chairs, even with the parking stickers. However, If you are good to your apartment it will in turn be good to you.
Yeah the hallways smell sometime but shouldn't you as a resident who has to walk through it daily take the initiative to sprinkle some carpet freshner or vaccum out there' There are outlets on the wall. If you have the attitude that your only going to worry about inside your apartment so will your neighbors. If you take pride in the hallway ya'll share so will they. It's only 4 units, rotate it so you only have to do it once a month.
Roaches happen everywhere, especially in apartment buildings. It is not just a Treehouse issue. For starters keep your apt clean and uncluttered. Put a litle boric acid down around your cabinets, counters and your front door. Keep the hallway clean. It won't get rid of them all but it will help.
Lastly, mind your damn business. If you try to be everyone's friend and stay in everyone's business you will end up in everyone's mess it's that simple. Kids will be kids but grown ass men and women have no excuse for acting like life hasn't taught them a damn thing.

What I make of it? Your full of crap. Lived there 6 months, 3 police reports, 1 break in, car window shot out, and tires slashed. So I guess only going to and from my car to the apt was me and my wifes fault. Open your eyes, this place is horrible!!

Do any of you people, other than "anonymous", ever PROOFREAD your entries? You write like a bunch of uneducated, stupid morons. I know sixth graders who can write, spell, and string together an intelligent-sounding sentence better than you. How about picking up a book and READING sometime? You might actually learn something, get a better job, and move out from Treehouse!

I minded my business and still ended up being robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day.

I have been living in Treehouse apartments for a little over a year. I have not had any major problems so far mostly because I have been ACTIVE in the community. IDK maybe instead of ranting on a WEBSITE you should have actually went and DONE SOMETHING. The rental office is constantly begging people to get involved (join the neighborhood watch, provide feedback, report suspicious activities to the security office tipline) but no one ever responds. So, the problems continue. I guess its better to be apathetic, whine, moan, and wait out the end of our leasing agreements, in fear of being shot at by our "thug life neighbors" (heavy sarcasm). For those that choose to stay get involved. For those who chose to leave see ya! For "Anonymous" I pray that you found the "better job" you were looking for! The world just doesn't have enough educated, successful, and hard working people like you(LOL).

Thorntonnr... it's not the "thug life neighbors." It's the people who they invite into the complex. They don't belong here. There used to be gates up, but they'd ram them down because they don't have a pass. It's not a safe place to live. My roommate was robbed at gunpoint. Treehouse staff did NOTHING or even show an ounce of sympathy. They didn't even open the door for him when he went to go report it because they were scared. That was the security office at Treehouse. We didn't have roach problems because we kept our apartment clean but we did have to deal with an unwanted skylight... a hole that developed in the ceiling from rain. They didn't fix it except patched it up. It ruined several of my belongings as well as develop a mold that made us sick. When you have News 6 doing a live report outside your window because of a shooting, you know that it's time to move. So that's what we did. And from the looks of it, nothing has changed. Enough about the educated comments. Whenever someone has something to say and they don't agree with you, pointing out their not-so-perfect grammar or spelling is just WEAK. Kind of like the excuses Treehouse staff made to us when we would report crime, rainwater in our apartment, or that our neighbor's tires were slashed or window busted. Do yourself a favor and move out of this place. Or don't consider it. When I worked at VCU, the Treehouse people tried to coerce students to living there (by scaring them that won't find another place to live). I talked so many students and their parents from considering the place. I wish I could much more. No one should have to deal with the BS and the near death experiences just to live somewhere.

In response to all the posts... yes, there may be some roaches but if you contribute to them by keeping your apt filthy and nasty because I have seen a lot of apartments doors open and I would not even go in them. The residents there live like nasty animals. Its not Treehouse Staff fault that people live the way the do and do not clean their apts. Treehouse even writes up violation letters to people who have a nasty apt because it contributes to the roaches. Treehouse should go inside on a routine basis and check everyone apt to see if it is clean or not. There are also a good amount of residents that do not report that they have roaches and when I report it to Treehouse staff they do treat the apts in a timely manner with no charge but then that resident doesn't want to let them in the apts or do they take the things out their cabinets and closets to allow them to treat the apts or their is so much clutter and filth you can't even enter someones apt. I have to report my neighbors apt plenty of times. The crime is not the bad but crime has no address. They do have neighborhood watch but no one wants to get involved. Adults should not allow their children to tear up the hallways and leave trash but no one is willing to say where the kids live at. Personally when I see the kids doing I will report it and say where they live because there has been a time that everyone on my floor got a letter regarding the hallways and the trash, they were going to bill everyone $35. I immediately started ratting out who kids and where they live. Since then I haven't had any problems. With persons smoking in the breezeways, I call the non emergency number and report it and let the police deal with it. A lot of the things are common sense, people who have had there cars broken into are the ones that are left unlocked or windows down. Alot of times when I walk by there wallets and money orders left in the seats so of coarse someone is going to be tempted to take. WTF! BE SMART! Lock your door and roll up the windows and don't keep items of value out in the open. Everyone just be smart and report things that you see. Yes, the service dept may be slow but also Ive heard that they just had layoffs around Dec and there is only 1 or 2 service men. Well for a property that size they have to put emergency's first. So don't wait till last minute to report things and expect it to get down. I listen to my neighbors when there in the rental office and they get mad at the staff when they report things at ten minutes to six and service closes at five. A lot of times it for stupid stuff that can wait till the next day. But I think its an alright place to live especially if you need a roof over your head and a place to call home because not everyone else has that.
