Yo!

King Properties does not care about their tennants!

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed my apartment here at Tuckernuck Trail. I am very sorry that King Properties is a scamming, cheating organization who treats their tennants like criminals after screwing them out of tons of money!
First, if you do decide to move here, NEVER EVER EVER MAIL YOUR RENT CHECK IN THE ENVELOPES PROVIDED BY THE OFFICE! Always drive your check directly to the corporate office, no matter how inconvenient. I was warned about this by a neighbor when I first moved in but thought nothing of it and went ahead and mailed my check each month. On time if not early. Then, in December, I recieved a very scary looking "notice of default- failure to pay rent" letter from corporate letting me know that within 5 days of the notice my account would be turned over to their attorney for eviction preceedings! Not only that, I moved into the apartment with a rent special- one month rent free pro-rated over the next year- which even if I did pay the money, becuase I was in violation of my contract, I had to pay them back for the pro-rated amount! I was devistaed as this was really the only way I was able to afford the apartment (not to mention the fact that it was about two weeks before Christmas and finances were already tight)! When I called in a panic (becasue of course, I HAD paid mailed my rent- it must have been lost in the mail or something) they were extremely rude, treating me like a criminal! They told me that if I came in and paid in full (by money order- they will not accept a personal check from scum like me!) plus an exorbitant late fee, they would not kick me out and sue. So of course, still very upset about this blemish on my perfect record, but confident that the check would eventually show up in the mail, I immediately go down to corporate to pay. Almost two weeks later, I got another letter in the mail from the office. THis one very short. My rent check had shown up. They included a photo copy of the envelope which very mysteriously had no postmark. They said that becuse there was no postmark they had no way of verifying when I actually mailed the check so the late fee stood. However, they GRACIOUSLY would allow me to pay by personal check again and allowed me to keep my prorated rent. No apologies. I'm not typically a big conspiracy theorist, but come on- isn't it a little bit fishy that I mailed my check from the on-site office, in thier clearly marked envelopes (they knew exactly what was in that envelope), and it magically showed up at thier office two weeks later sans postmark' Not to mention that other tennants have had the SAME experience'! It seems to me like a quick way to scam honest hard-working tennants out of ridiculous late fees.
A long story, I know. This was not my only infuriating experience with King Properties during my time at Tuckernuck. Generally, they do not care even remotely about their loyal tennants. It's all about corporate rules and regulations and charging fees small and larger whenever and wherever they can. I will be so relieved when I do not have to deal with them any more!!!!
