This place is a dump. I made the mistake of living here and have had nothing but bad experiences. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors having a normal conversation. The floors squeak so bad, you can hear your neighbors walking around. Hoodlums from this and other communities steal packages off your front porch. The property manager is the rudest, most ignorant ----- you'll ever meet.Nobody picks up after thier pets.So from the moment you sign the contract, you're in ----,whether you're inside or outside of your apartment. The sewer system is always getting backed up.The thermostat for the AC is upstairs so your AC runs constantly and the upstairs stays hot while the downstairs is an icebox. The telephone wiring is a mess. And since they make you sign a new lease over a month in advance, you need to have a new place lined up 3-4 months in advance or pay out the ass to leave. This is illegal but Virginia doesn't seem to care, nor does Gumenick Properties headquarters. The only thing that is decent is the landscaping but you'll even pay for that too. The crew is constantly running the blowers, mowers and weedeaters. Do yourself a favor and keep going or suffer.

I've been living at the Village for nearly 4 years now and I'm moving because I need a 3br now which they do not offer. Yes, I'll admit the walls are thin and the floor squeaks. The place, I believe, was built in the 40s and renovated in the 80s. The management has new faces since this review but I've never had a problem with them in the first place. On the note of residents not picking up after their pets and people stealing packages left, there is another house community next to here that are difficult to control and I can see it difficult to police others that do not live here. My neighbor is out of town all the time and sometimes her mail is there for a month outside. I don't recommend doing that, all you need to do is leave a sign asking them not to leave it there and take it to the front office or just call them and the staff will go by daily. I have never had the sewer system backed up and my thermostat is downstairs between the living room and the kitchen. Yes, it's difficult to control the temperature in the apartment since it's winter in one floor and summer in the other practically all year long. The telephone wiring is old. DSL messes with the regular lines. And the landscaping is nice, pending weather, but I do agree that they are ALWAYS out there. It seems more than once a week but it's included within the rent anyway.
