Okay- I reviewed this place for MONTHS before moving here and decided that this would be the best place to move from Lejeune out of the hundreds of other places. One of the biggest mistakes I've made as far as my family's safety is concerned. Here's the basics:
The [OUTSIDE OF THE TOWNHOMES]- is nice for the most part- lawn and shrubs usually kept up, attractive exteriors... lots of flowering trees in spring. One major thing that the neighbors and I were talking about was the MAJOR lack of privacy... EVERYONE can see your back and front yard. You MUST keep blinds closed because you WILL be seen. They really really really need to put up some privace fences along the length of the townhomes so that at least the building across from you can't see EVERYTHING you are doing on your patio. That'd be sooo much better. But, I highly doubt they'd ever spend the cash on it ever.
[INSIDE OF THE TOWNHOMES]- seems pretty nice for an apartment in this price range, though very quickly put together. Unfortunately, there are often problems which require fixing. So far in 7 months I've had 3 leaky sinks, 2 clogged drains (at move-in, mind you), the fridge froze all my food at least 5 different times that require the freezer being taken apart (and aparently this happens a lot to other, too!), doors had to be sealed twice because you could SEE the outside, heater broke once, and AC broke twice. RIDICULOUS for a building built in 2001!
[MAINTENANCE GUYS]- are great and come very quickly...sometimes within 10 minutes! They do their best to fix everything right away, are friendly and very efficient. Often require several trips to fix things though. I have had no problems so far with office staff- Emma seems to be the friendliest I've noticed.
[NOISE]- there are many men in this neighborhood with nice systems.... that seem to think it's appropriate to play them as LOUD as possible between 11pm-3am. The kids are always loud and screaming at each other across streets and just being obnoxious for the most part as they stand ON YOUR PORCH (because apparently they have no parents and don't have manners). BUT, other than those two negatives, I've never heard my neighbors through the walls and overall it's pretty quiet.
[NIGHT-WALKING KIDS]- Can't even begin to explain how annoying these awful little brats are. I know, I know... they are someone's kids. But whos' No idea because their pathetic parents NEVER WATCH THEM! These kids aged 7 to I'd say maybe 17' are out at alllll hours. They stand on your porch. They sit in your patio furniture. They take your kids toys and play with them without asking. They SCREAM and CURSE and hit things up against your house and cars and anything else that's not yours ALL THE TIME. The office staff and maintenance guys and neighbors all seem to have the same feelings...... but since nobody can figure out who the parents are without stalking the little brats, nothing can be done about it. Some of them don't even LIVE in this neighborhood! Oh yes, and they stand in the street. THE MAIN STREET... they just congregate in the middle and stare at you as you try to pass. NO moving... just staring. One girl got hit by a car TWICE in one year because the poor moron can't stay out of the damn street. You'd think she'd learn... I guess not.
[THE GATE]-... Oye the gate. It's a 2x4. That's it. Idiots who don't know their code, drunk people and dumbass kids are breaking it within 30 minutes of it being up. Honestly, how many times can they put it back up' They've tried to put screws in it to scratch the cars that ram it... doesn't work. They talked about the spikes in the road that you can drive over but not go backwards on.... but there are insurance issues with that I guess. What can I say' We live with idiot neighbors! I do not think they should advertise a "gated community" if they cannot come up with a solution for the gate problem and fail to even have the back gate in working order. RIDICULOUS!
On to the [SAFETY ISSUE]-... This place is a disguised ghetto. In 7 months there have been MANY MAJOR ISSUES with safety. 2 weeks after moving in 3 men were robbed in my back yard at gun point by some teens. They took a couple bucks, ran off and shot their shot gun at the men. Luckily, nobody was hurt, but still.... A couple of weeks ago there was someone shot a couple streets over from us. Our street had a car robbed of it's tv/stereo system equipment just a couple days ago. And last night a drunk ass idiot one building over took an AXE and CHOPPED DOWN THE CORNER TREE and the GATE that was already UP! WHO DOES THAT!'' Cut your own damn tree down! Needless to say, this is NOT a safe place for families. All doors and windows and cars need to be locked up and everything off patio unless you want it stolen.
Overall, it's really not worth it. Military- just move on base. Save yourself the headache. There is a petition getting started to blacklist this place for military families.... everyone wants out. If you try to get out early you must pay two months rent and give 60 days notice- just a warning. Renters beware- unless MAJOR changes are made..... STAY AWAY. Things are not as nice as they seem!

I agree with the kid issues. Friday night we were in my back yard with my kids and some guy just passing through told his son, as he passed my house, to just stay there until he got back. The kid couldnt have been any older than 8 or 9 and stayed and played with my kids until dad came back. Dad disappeared and came back like 45 minutes later. I had never seen either of them before. Who does that?? And the gate issue is a joke, the people breaking the gate down need to realize if they go one street farther they can enter through the back entrance where the gate hasnt been up in YEARS!! And whats the point of breaking the EXIT gate, it comes up when you get close to it. That seems intentional!

Emma is the nicest, the best Ashley is gone and Cindy is a joke----DO NOT RENT HERE THEY SUCK and the GHETTO is right behind you. This place is lame, there is much better somewhere else there has to be.

I hate this place. We have lived here for almost 2 years and are very ready to move out. Like stated before, the gates are NEVER up. And when they do get around to putting them up, they are broken with in an hour. So whats the point? How about the office spends the money to get a steel or metal gate, instead of spending the money to re-model the office? Yes, they did just re-model the whole interior of the offices and "lounge" area. SO don't tell me you dont have the funds to fix the gates and keep them fixed! That is half the problem with this place! At least the gates would act as some kind of deterrant to everyone and their brother coming in here. Our vehicles have been broken into 3 times since November! 3 times! We learned our lesson the first time when they stole our GPS. My husband actually caught them breaking into my car one night and chased 3 of them all the way back to Garrison Woods where they came from. And yes, there is a MAJOR hole in the "fence" that seperates the properties..The cops were called but nothing ever came of it. And I never heard anything from Sky Terrace. And Cindy wasnt very sympathetic, either. She's no help and has a bad attitude..I hate having to deal with her. I don't recommend this place to anyone and soon, my neighbors and I are starting up a petition to get things going around here. We shouldn't be concerned for our families safety! And if nothing is going to be fixed, we are taking it to Marine Corps Housing and getting this place taken off the list of places for Marine families to live. Marine families are HALF or even more of the families that live here and that would surly put a dent in Sky Terraces business.. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
