We have lived here since October of 2005 and we've had our share of problems, but if you are diligent with your complaints, pay your rent on time and are fair to the office staff - things get taken care of in a decent amount of time. One of the upsides to renting is that we can call someone to have an issue corrected and not pay for it ourselves. We called quite a number of times after we first moved in to have different things tweaked and although it is always annoying to have to have someone come into your home to fix things, they have always been accommodating.
We even convinced them to update our kitchen after we were here for 3 years. They updated it while we were on vacation and were VERY flexible in working with us. We have never had a bug problem other than the occasional multi-legged creature that gets in when the door is opened.
We have pets so it is very important to us that we do not have chemicals sprayed and they have always respected our requests. They even give me a time-frame for maintenance visits so I can be home with the dog. The neighbors are quiet and it looks like many of them have lived here for years as well.
I never feel strange walking my dog late at night and there is PLENTY of FREE parking (something that is rare in Northern VA). The area is safe and there are several shopping areas within a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk. It's a great area and I don't see us moving from here until we buy a house.
I must stress that if you treat someone fairly they will treat you fairly. The leasing office knows us on sight and have always responded within a reasonable amount of time to our requests.
One of the major perks of this apartment complex is that they have NO weight limit on dogs and the community itself is outstanding compared to the other (run down) apartment complexes with the same type of pet policy.
People who complain about trash being left outside the compactor should tell their neighbors to throw their trash IN the compactor. Often people leave bags without even checking to see if the compactor is full or not. It's usually empty.
The community also started a trash pick up service Sun-Thurs. They pick up trash and recycling at your door. I don't think it gets any better than that!

I"m glad that your experience has been good. I, however, would not recommend this complex at all. I don't consider it a "home" at all. The rules seem to apply to some, not all. I have heard from the "inside" that the management team does have their "favorite tenants" and adjust rents accordingly. I never felt that it was my place at all. The only positive that I have is the maintenance department. I found them professional at all times. I could not recommend this. Lastly, to get a good hot shower, one must go to a friend's house.
