I had an emergency situation on 9/22-9/23 at 2:30 am. And I am just now hearing from them with a slip date 9/24/07. On 9/23/07 at approximately 2:30 am I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of items to finish cooking. Not knowing it I picked up the wrong set of keys going out the door. Upon my return I noticed I was locked out my apartment. I called the number on the office door. The answer service told he that there was a lock out policy. I was unaware there was a lock-out policy, if I would have know I would have hidden a set of keys in my car or outside. Frighten that I had left food cooking; I return the call to the answer service and explain that I left food cooking while I ran to the store.
I explained that my cell phone was showing low battery. I did not receive a call back.
I called around looking for a locksmith and had two to claim they were on their way. At 4:00 am I called a non-emergency number to the fire department and explained my problem. They put me through to the 911 operator; they sent the fire department out.
They used my credit card to open the door. The supervisor of the fire department asks me if I told the apartment that I had left food cooking. I explained that I told the answering service and she took my cell number at or around 2:30 am and no one called or came out. I explained that I had called two locksmiths and not one had shown up yet. My concern is that the refusal to come out, put my personal belonging is danger and the surrounding residents. However, a policy that put live in danger and property is not a good policy. Charge the residents that need to be let in after hours.
