At first I was happy here -- at $1,600/month rent for a ONE bedroom I'd *better* be ya know. The friendly people at Alexan were very pleasant to deal with, and they fixed any errors with a quick apology and make good. But there were minor issues...

They don't tell you these things when you first move in: When the internet was FINALLY available (after MUCH unacceptable delay) it turns out that there is This "net nanny" they installed and it's like a HAWK and doesn't even let you access eBay or even check your hotmail account! WHY don't they just make this "business center" for people 21 and over' What business do kids have in a "business center". Also The printer is not reliable and maintanence is slow to fix common-ground stuff. Also the media center is *not* 24 hours like they said you actually need to give a $500.00 deposit and return the key next day by noon to avoid being charged for "key remaking" or some --------. The most annoying thing about the media center is that you DON'T have control over the volume, they senselessly control the volume of the movie YOU are watching. Then suddenly they decided that ya gota be outta there by 10!!!!! First it was 12 and then 10. WTF''' When I moved in they said "24 hours".

The FIRE ALARM is the most annoying I've ever heard in my life and went on at any given moment of the day. I got woken up many times because of it. If I got rent reduced because of this I woundn't have minded, but I am paying RETAIL HERE GEEZIS CHRIST.

Also I've always thought it was illegal to start noisy construction before 10am.' Well these construction workers start their day bright 'n early at SEVEN AM. I couldn't believe it. This really pissed me off I was tempted to call the cops but just got up early instead although NOT brighteyed or bushtailed =/.

Despite all this I was generally happy at living here. Maintainence is VERY reliable and professional. Also friendly and courteous.

Suddenly....

These new communist community took over called "Marquis". They all seem to know each other and to be very friendly with each other. So when you come in they all gang up on you. It's quite the contrast from Alexan's "hi how can I help you what's goin on how are ya, etc". Instead you get a stare that says not EVEN "what do you want" but "What does (s)he want' (like thinking to themselves)"

To top it off these EMPLOYESS have invanded our (the tenant's) lounging area. They've turned it into some annoying employee lounge while being unfriendly lounging in what WE (the tenants) pay monthly for.

Ok now on the apartments....very shoddily made. Shoddy materials shoddy workmanship. Everything is poorly made (and maintained w/regard to common ground area) and in some places, falling apart even. Falling apart at $1,600/month rent! Is this acceptable' you be the judge.

Every week ya get some new "notice" that says something you don't wana hear like "we will be testing fire alarms between 9-noon"(MORNING--when we all SLEEPING, how considerate!), or "we will be checking your bathroom tiles and invading your privacy", or "you MUST put parking decal on your car if you don't wana be towed" you MUST this and MUST that!!!!!!!!! In contrast, with Alexan whenever you get a flyer on your door it was to ask you to RSVP to some brunch or something pleasant like "the internet is now available" or "winter is coming, remember to check your bla bla and let emergency know if you need help."

The "security guard" is a joke. He is on a high from his percieved powerful position and bosses you around and tells you what to do. If you let him he'll try to tell you not to enter through certain doors and to go all the way around the back instead. Though there are only two computers in the business center, This security guard spends company time in the business center on the internet!!!

The gym is great although it smells funny like I dunno what. I like the neighbors but at $1,600 rent I guess it draws in the kinda people you wana live next to. Not alot of fat people live here....mostly fit or almost-fit folks although the marquis managment are way LESS fit than Alexan (not sure if *that's* why they're so irritable or if it's the other way around). Alexan had NO fat people on staff but this communist 'marquis' people have around 70% fat or pot-bellied staff I'd guesstimate.

It's disappointing to me that there are MANY families with kids here. These parents let their kids run around like there's no tomorrow. These kids also invade the basketball court and spend "illegal" hours and hours on the internet looking at p0rn. They act all guilty when you come in and WAIT to use the computer but they do not get off. Rule says they have to be 18 to use the computer by themselves, yet these kids are 11-15 yrs old spending hours and hours and hoooouurs on one of the two computers in the business center. Where are the ENFORCERS' they are busy trying to convince people to spend 1/3 mil - half a million on a condo here. They are really excited on convincing people to buy these $180k condos for $350k. And why not - wouldn't you be' Although it is kinda the singles/newlyweds community these salespeople try to convince you it is, these irksome running-around invador-kids have too much free run. Since this has to do with TENANT comfort, managment has no reason to stop this. It's a put-off for many of the tenants b/c it is really really annoying.

Safety isn't even an issue. But IS an issues with regard to things falling on you b/c one of hinges on the door fell off and can fall on someone when they open it. It's been 2-3 weeks, no one is doing anything. Sometimes the door is just wide open.

I dunno if anyone said anything about this but *nothing* is happening to fix it. O yea and it's been around 4 months since the lock works/doesn't work on and off on this door.

Once many of the plants started dying due to no one watering them.

I can't say this place is worth $20,000 a year.

But I read much worse on this site. To sum it up DO NOT hire "marquis" as your managment what a pain to even look at one of the staff. When it was ran by Alexan it wasn't perfect but much better.
