Ok, I'm a new college grad so my standards might not be as high after dorm life but I think this apartment is great. It has been converted into condos, so if you rent now, its from an individual owner. The condition of the condo itself is their responsiblity. The facilities are well maintianed, and it is a very dog friendly area (puppy pails abound). I have never heard my neighbors, or their two yearold through the walls. Gym is tiny but very nice, and not crowded. Pool is good, but there aren't enough chairs so if you aren't there by 11am you are SOL. I guess because of the conversion the maintence people aren't an issue. As for pests, I have never seen any, but if you're a slob, you're going to get them. The rent that I'm paying is average for the building, not horrible for an orangeline condo though. (Expect to pay between $1200-$1475). Perfect location for me since I don't drive anyway. Vienna was just rated the 4th nicest place to live in America, so that's positive. Very little crime here, as opposed to comperable areas in the DC Metro vacinity. I have been in the DC area for 5 years (4 spent in college) but I have seen my share of places. This isn't the nicest one out tehre, but its pretty damn good. Of course, I'm making the best of my situation, compulsively clean, and have made it mine. Management can be slow to get bacl to you and periodically there are kids in the pool, but their parents bought the condo, its their right to use it too. Most are well behaved, so unless you're a total baby hater, it shouldn't be an issue. The enterences to the apartments are ugly as hell though, the cement stairs doesn't do it for me. They are strict about who gets into the pool area, and can be -----ish, but I prefer that any day to wanderers coming in. Just an honest opinion from a 20something and her Jack Russell. We're happy here. Oh yeah, guest parking...its on the sixth floor of the garage, that blows.
