The complex is ridden with owners with financial problems and foreclosures, which causes problems for everyone else. Last winter, we had two floods due to pipes bursting from an abandoned unit. The management doesn't keep up to date records of owner's contact information, so they could not contact the owner. This meant that no one could seek compensation for their property damage. Management took care of some of the stuff but not all, and cut corners when they repaired the units (e.g., install thinner carpet padding that previous so the old carpet was not flush with the new carpet). So if you smell something funny, it's probably mold. Also, the walls are so thin, I can hear my neighbor snore at night (no joke!).

Agreed that units are coming up for sale because of distress --- but --- we bought one exactly because they were an irrisistable price right now and especially given all the other benefits and amenities. These units won't stay on the market long at these prices so these issues are time limited.
