Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
We have lived here for a year already and just renewed our lease for another year. It is a good starter apartment here, specially if you have a child and/or a big dog(s). My husband and I looked at a few places for rent before deciding on Arbor Trace. The rent we pay I dont think is too high. I have seen higher for smaller places. They have plenty of places for the dog to go the bathroom. The only problem is not all the dog owners keep up with their animals. They also have a doggy playground where you can take your dog and let them run loose in a safe, fenced in area. I dont have any problem with our apartment being too small, maybe not enough storage but I also have a one year old. The living room/dining room is spacious. The kitchen is alittle small but there is plenty of cabinet space in them. We rent a two bedroom, the first one is alittle on the small side but its still gotta plenty of room. THe master bedroom is plenty big enough to fit a queen size bed and bedroom furniture. The bathroom is ok sized. There is also a laundry room in all apartments which you dont see in alot of apartments. That was a big plus with me because I hate having to go somewhere to do laundry. They also have the dvd rentals, and the coffee bar,the fitness room and th pool. Which anyone living in Va beach knows in the summer its impossible to go to the beach without there being tons of tourists. The walls are alittle thin so noise can be a problem but usually if it bothers you too much you can talk to your neighbors and they ll calm it down. We have only had to talk to a neighbor twice since we lived here. As far as the maintence, it is excellent. They get out to your apartment as soon as they can to fix your problem. We have never had a problem with the maintence guy, hes a great guy and does everything he can to get your problems fixed. The windows in the winter tend to sweat because of the heat and cold differences. We have never had a 200 electric bill ever. It usually runs us about 90 and thats with our heat on constantly/ We leave our heat at 80 so it is high. The staff at Arbor Trace we have never had a problem with. They have been nothing but nice and courteous to us. We are always down there chatting with them. Anytime we have a problem they try to find a solution to it as soon as possible. This place does have a high turnover but I think alot of it is because of people being transfered and needing a new place asap. The parking is good but alot of people are right: the parking in the back of the cul de sac is tighter than up front. If you try to find parking later at night you ll have to park further from your apartment than you might like also. There is also the use of the stickers for parking in the parking lot. It is good because parking is already tight. Guests can park in the parking lot during the day but if they are there at night they do get towed. They have guest parking across from the parking lot for at night. As for the safety around here. I feel really safe. You have to be buzzed into the apartments. I have never felt unsafe walking around the complex. There are also two police officers that live in the complex. We are planning on moving out next year but only because we need more space (hoping for another little one soon) and they only have 2 bedrooms. And we would like other things like a back yard for the children to play in. I d say if you like the model apartment give the place a chance. It is defintly a good starter apartment and maybe more if thats what you choose.
