Do NOT rent here! Avoid at ALL COSTS.

As a single female in my 20?s, I felt EXTREMELY unsafe living in Briarwood and I am so glad my lease is up. One day as I was leaving for work, I happened to look over in the laundry room and it was FULL of grafitti. Another time, there was tobacco and trash thrown all over the floor and the washers, as if somebody was emptying out a cigar to roll a blunt (marijuana cigarette).

There is so much crime here it is a shame. The police are in the area on a DAILY basis. It is a shame when you know your precinct?s number by heart. This is not how I was raised. I looked up the Va Beach crime reports, and there were dozens of reports on Lake Edward, Volsung Ct, Timon Ct, and other streets in the Complex...AND THIS WAS IN 2003 ALONE . The entire year, there were nothing but Car break ins on a weekly basis. None of us kept anything in our cars. If you went down my street on any given day and looked in the parking lot, you could see the bluish broken glass in the lots. It was so bad, that I had to park in the lot that was the FARTHEST from my apt. I figured that if the hoodlums would try to break in my car, it would at least be in the "street" and there would be a greater chance of being seen. When I called and asked for a police patrol, they gave me the "same old same old" tone, as if they are used to calls in the area. The office said that they were going to hire security to patrol the place but I wouldnt hold my breath.

And you cant forget about the solicitors, oh those solicitors. Since they dont have a "no trespassing, no solicitation" sign, everybody from Jehovahs witnesses to carpet cleaners will come knocking at your door, at least 2x a week. Now I will admit, the apartments are really spacious, and parking is good (if your car dosent get broken in), but that?s IT. My apartment had upside down outlets, so I couldnt use any plug in air fresheners. Appliances that used a large charger had to be plugged in a power strip. Also, there is NO OUTLET in the BATHROOM. So you can forget about using a curling iron or electric clippers.

BOTTOM LINE: Avoid this place at all costs. I wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy. Its bad when you are ashamed to tell people where you live, or you have to tell them "dont leave anything in your car, people might break in". If you stay in Briarwood, thats exactly what will happen. People JUST DONT CARE.
