Two murders, three days -- you decide

I was appalled by the complete lack of maintenance and care for the investment shown by Great Atlantic. I could never recommend that anyone rent from them, regardless of which apartment complex it was. I moved into the apartment in November of 2003, and have still not had a functioning oven. My air conditioning was out for three weeks, and it was only repaired after I had an attorney file a complaint with the Fair Housing Commission (it's amazing how quickly they'll find a replacement part when there's a lawsuit threatened). You get what you pay for -- it's cheap. It's currently under new management, and it's not a whole lot better. The company fired all the personable employees Great Atlantic had placed there, and kept all the horrible ones -- you know, the drunk/stoned maintenance people, the perpetually angry leasing agents -- which really turned things from bad to worse.
And yes, to top it all off, there were two murders in a three-day span. It wouldn't bother me so much if it had been a knifing, but they were both shootings, and, judging by all the windows and doors that were shot out, the criminals aren't very good shots. If you want to live in the ghetto, you're more than welcome. But don't say that I didn't warn you.
