Love yourself, Trust yourself, Find a home, not a Dump

In all fairness, this is a very spacious place, just with horrific conditions. 1) Bugs, huge, huge Waterbugs, spiders, silverfish, ants- name it, we've got it. When you open your front door, the big waterbugs are crawling on the outside waiting for the day you're not paying attention so they can walk in and relax. After all, the apartment stays damp because when it rains, I get to enjoy the rain indoors, too. Why shouldn't the waterbugs' 2) I have had a hole in my ceiling for over a year now. They put a board up there and painted it once and have yet to return, except to say when it stops raining they will fix the roof. It stopped raining months ago, at least for a week. There are several molded areas in my roof. Some with hair- gross- sooooo gross. The carpet has been soaked. I'm terrified of what is living under there. The management has the idea that you are a bother to them. They sit in the office and accomplish nothing AND give attitude. It's amazing. It's unreal. Appliances are up and down, cabinets are hanging by one nail. The office staff, the maintenance, Great Atlantic and anyone else even vaguely associated with the upkeep of this property should be so ashamed of themselves for such a general disregard for people and the lack of ethics it requires to run such a dump. Also, the hot water is constantly going out, in the Winter you'll have several days without heat. In the summer, several days without air. AND they had the audacity to send out a letter to the residents stating hot water loss for days was not an emergency, and being without a/c or heat in extreme temperatures did not constitute an emergency. WOW! My family and I will be taking the next ride out of this hell. I can't say enough about the lack of care shown here. At the same time, I've used this site many times to rate apartments, so as I'd appreciate an objective assessment, I'm going to provide one. As aforementioned, the apartments are very large- 1269sf and on RPP that cost me about 975/mth. I love the school system. I have felt pretty safe here. I have renewed my lease a couple of years, weighing the good and the bad. The place was average at best, initially, in regards to maintenance and the office staff- even though I did like Michelle, personally. It is now unbearable. My family suffers from allergies that were not previously a problem. I won't be subjecting them to anymore carelessness that is health threatening. It would be understandable if the place was just falling apart, because it is old. But it will be the nonchalent attitude or worse from the staff that will be the end of these apartments and perhaps this community, not the deteriorating buildings. I hope this has been helpful to someone. If your skin is the toughest in the world you can probably stick it out and be at least content. Maybe management will change. Probably not anytime soon though. A friend of mine also lives in a Great Atlantic Property that sucks. She always runs to Great Atlantic. I agree it's a plan of action, but if you have a lot of properties being run the same way, it's probably fair to say the problem probably begins with the Property Management, so what are the odds they will be correcting anything' You can probably do better. You certainly deserve better.
