Pretty, but looks aren't everything!

I have lived here a year but am very excited to be getting out of here because the complex allows large dogs [the apartment management who read my anonymous review and confronted me about it told me that dogs over 35 lbs are not supposed to be living here] and without enough soundproofing, a large dog running around above you sounds like a stampeding elephant! Ironically, last summer I heard a couple complaining about this by the pool (beautiful pool) and saying that they were moving because they couldn't take all the loud pounding noises on their ceiling from the dog. I would never have thought a dog would be so loud in an apartment! It's about as bad as having a little kid constantly running around. The office people told me I could transfer into a top floor apartment and pay a penalty of only $300 if I broke my lease early, but today I was told I would not be allowed to change apartments unless I upgraded from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom! The apartments here cost about as much as many townhomes and even older houses in the area rent for, so I am going to move to a townhome. Depending on your neighbors, this could be a great place to live.
