You Can Do Better

While I initially was pleased with the overall neighborhood surrounding Alta at Towne Square, I found the directly adjacent Super K-Mart to be a huge eyesore.
The prices are pretty adequate for what you receive. The clubhouse is a nice feature with a fax machine, copy machine and printer in the office area accessible to tenants via a security card. I feel the price of the laundry machines should be lower in addition to that of the vacuum located at the carwash area.
Living in a city that has "beach" in its title, I feel the pool should be accessible to tenants earlier than Memorial Day and remain open later than Labor Day. If the pool itself should not be sanitary to use, the lounge area surrounding the pool should be available to all for tanning or reading-weather permitting.
Alta at Towne Square is certainly not kid friendly. Due to the poor quality insulation, noise levels are amplified due to any toddler's running, falling, playing, and additional kid play. I have found management to be intolerant of any noise, period; in-excessive or excessive. Living in an apartment, it should be a general understanding that large families should be placed on a ground floor, if available. If not, then please be more understanding!
Parking is unassigned. Garages are very hard to come by, and the community speed limit of 10 mph is NEVER enforced-so please watch your kids as you are exiting your car into the parking lot!
Maintenance takes a very long time to respond-and I don't mean within a given day. They never get it right the first time. If maintenance should happen to respond to your maintenance concern, it is usually only to a few items on your list. Things that are temporarily inoperable or permanently damaged are simply covered up to the best of their ability. Being such a newly constructed building, I am perplexed as to why the maintenance staff would not be concerned with the long-term preservation of their structure; as leaking windows and water-damaged drywall can definitely pose a long term eyesore and health hazard if left untreated correctly over time.
There are no elevators on the premises which are available at many of the surrounding areas, so if you have babies or small children who aren't walking yet, you will have to carry them in addition to any groceries you may have. If you have trash you need to dispose of, prepare for a long walk! The dumpster is at the entrance which is extremely inconvenient if you are located anywhere other than the building directly next to it. Due to this inconvenience, many neighbors leave their trash bags outside -for days on end! This could easily be fixed if there were an additional dumpster located at the rear of the community (possibly closer to the K-Mart side')
All prior comments aside, Alta at Towne Square is conveniently located within Virginia Beach; the Towne Center area which features the Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Changs, Red Star Tavern and Funny Bone Comedy Club are all 15 min. away. A drive into Norfolk is 25 minutes and if you can stand the crowds, the beach is 15 min. away.
