4 decent years, then disappointment

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

My wife and I recently moved from Virginia to North Carolina. I lived at Columbus Station for 4 years.

Pros: Convenience - everything is nearby. The movie theater is a block away. Town Center has a number of good restaurants / bars. Everything else is the area is within 10-15 minutes.

Cons: Noise - as with any apartment. Our last year there we had a sex-crazed neighbor above (great 2 am wake-up), an couple that liked to argue below, and the occasional singing / fighting couple next door.
Management - Not the best, nor the friendliest. I'm sure that with all of the young military around it can't be the easiest place to work, but you should still treat people who are paying you over $14000/year in rent with some appreciation. I spent 4 times that in the 4 years that I lived there without having any complaints against me for any reason. Then upon moving out, I get hit with a $200 cleaning bill deducted from my deposit. Out of the three apartments that I lived in there, I never had a bill like that. I guess it's convenient to overcharge people when they're moving away and can't do much about it.
Maintenance - The guy above us had a leak in his bathroom which caused our ceiling to mold. When maintenance came to "fix" it, I think they put a thin coat of paint over it. We also had our dryer burn multiple garments when they would get caught between the drum and the fixture. And, you can get charged if you fill in the holes from your picture frames (since they must go back and expertly sand them, which is apparently $65 worth of labor)
Parking - The place sometimes seems like a zoo on the weekends. It's really frustrating when you live there but can't find a parking space anywhere near your car.

Bottom line, if you like a convenient location and mediocre service, Columbus Station is for you.
