First of all I have to say that the office and maintanance people at Eastwind are GREAT! They do what they can with the resources that they have and it is done right the first time.

There are alot of places to shop and for military people it is 10 minutes from Oceana NAS (so there is some Jet Noise), 30 minutes from Norfolk NS and about 40 minutes from Portsmouth Naval Hospital (I dont know if that is good or not)!

Eastwind was built in 1972 (UDRT is the property manager) and it is in SEVERE need of renovations!! The shingles are falling off, the walls are thin enough to hear the neighbors banging around and the wooden fence has lots of holes, which means ANYONE can walk through the complex and look in your windows as they walk by.

There is NO landscaping, unless you count the one bush under each window that was hacked down to a twig before this winter.

Parking... hahaha... you get one spot. You have to fight for a visitors spot or track down the person who parked in your spot because there are no other spots available. People park behind your cars, in the fire lane, in the grass, behind cars that are parked behind your car.

The maintainance crew: They have 2 (Very nice) guys for 200 apartments and townhomes. Sometimes it takes a litte while for things to get done.

UDRT makes an average of $800 a month per apartment plus pet rent and they will not put on a new gutter on the building. The gutter on the front is falling and leaks heavily and conveniently I might add, right over my front door so we get SOAKED if its raining because the door and locks stick and you have to wiggle the key to open the door.

There are a few good things about being here. First of all there are NO rats, bugs or creatures in the apartments!! :-) The office staff is great. They have a nice outdoor pool also.

There are plenty of places to go, things to go, and nice scenic drives after you get out of the city. Especially on the Eastern shore (camping at Chincoteague was great)!! The apartments are 5 minutes from the famous VA Beach.

I am giving the office and maintainance staff a 5 and recommending Eastwind because of them. UDRT deserves a 1 rating.
