I Used To Think It Was OK...Now I'm Moving

I was one of the people who looked at the reviews before moving in, and figured I'd still give it a shot because 1- they gave a good first impression and 2- I was DESPERATE to move out. I have a private entrance, 2 BR 1 Bath, upstairs apartment. When I first moved in and had a problem with the air conditioner, they couldn't come until some days later. It was JUNE, and SWELTERING and me and my 7 MONTH OLD SON (at the time) had to SLEEP UNDER THE CEILING FAN IN THE "DINING ROOM" until I decided to go out in the midle of the night to get us electric fans from Wal-Mart! They "fixed" it, and it got messed up again...so one of our nifty maintenance guys jimmied it so that it would run continously when turned on. They were supposed to come out to fix the fan on it, and had the AUDACITY to leave the dang part sitting on the floor--not fixed! Guess what' NEVER CAME BACK. I have that part if anyone wants it...lol. Over the course of winter, they had to actaully come and fix it to where the heat would work. Now that's it's getting warmer, I have to actually request to have a working air conditioner... and here's the BEST part. I called one night, ( the emergency line of course, because they NEVER EVER answer during business hours) and asked my A/C to be fixed because mind you, I live UPSTAIRS and it wa almost 90 degrees in my house. They say okay, I'll page someone...never comes. I called THEM back to see what the deal was... they said "it wasn't hot enought at the time I called to get it fixed". WTF' And I called a few days ago, (again, after hours) and she said "Yes, they ARE doing A/C calls right now." I get back home that night to an 80 degree house. Called back, and listen to this: "They WERE doing A/C calls, but they're not anymore..." I kid you not, word for word. She even told me to call during business hours I said "I DO, no one answers". She says "well you should also leave a message"... Hold It. Why would you leave a message if no one even answers the phone, EVER' I of course left a nasty message, because I will NOT accept poor quality for what we pay with a young child in this house.
Let me TRY to sum up the other stuff. With the rent raise, it would be around $924 for my current apt, with no washer or dryer, living in the midst of some kind of special people program (have nothing against these special people, but they can be loud and unruly right outside of my window), Paying water--gas---AND eletricity, terrible work on the apartment upon moving in (carpeting not measured and laid correctly, water spots under the sinks, pet hair in the cracks of the closet, fridge messupe up on me a few times). The layout, compared to the apt. I'm about to move into sucks.
I MUST say though, they offer you some pretty darn good cookies in the rental office. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk

You should not have picked this place after reading the reviews. It is one of the worst in Va Beach. If you look online at Va Beach police records called epro, you will find a lot of crime in this area.

I completely agree with the problems youve listed, I live here now and have had and am still having problems with them. Our current problem is that my husband is military and prior to moving in they told us that if he got orders elsewhere the lease could be broken with a 30 day notice and a letter from his ship. well, the tme has come and now they say it has to be a 60 day notice! This poses a problem because my husband just got orders 2 days ago to change stations in 34 days. I called them 2 days ago, but like you...had to leave a message and never got a call back! so, now they are expecting us to pay an extra 30 days of rent! Not only that, but the lady was VERY rude about it. Another thing is that when we viewed the apartment it was disgusting but were promised that it would be cleaned and painted. It was nasty the day we moved in! There was still garbage under the sink and around the fridge, the last renters unwanted items in the closets, old paint, and the best part...the bathroom floor was COVERED in pubic hair! The fridge didnt work so they replaced it but left a greasy puddle from the kitchen through the livingroom and down the stairs. they were supposed to have the carpets cleaned because of that but do you think that happened??? NOPE! Dont rent here if your thinking about it. I would stay away from all breeden company apartments because Ive had problems with the last apartment i lived at which was owned by the breeden company...hunters mill! stay away! |

I live there now and everything is true. I've never had such a horrible experience. I'm military and only had a couple of days to find a place. I wish I could have spent some time looking around about dusk. There are gaggles of teenagers just hanging around on the corners, and the F word spray painted all over the playground (still hasn't been cleaned off). Sure there's a pool, but it's only open a couple of hours a day, so what's the use. BTW when I'm in the bathroom I can hear my neighbor taking a crap in the mornings (Always a pleasant experience). I HATE it here and I am moving ASAP.

Next time try asking to SEE the apt BEFORE signing the lease and you wont have that problem.

FIRST OF ALL: I DID see the apartment before signing the lease. What does that have to do with the air conditioner not working? or having drafty windows? or having stupid maintenace personnel? or them laying the carpet down all wrong? Or having a mailbox with no way of putting mail in? And trust me, I DID note those things on my move-in inspection. Were they ever fixed? Of course not! And when I DID view the apartment, there were ants, swarming all over the kitchen. YES, said something about that too. Everything else-- obvious reasons why the rent shouldn't have been what it was. The apartments really are crappy. And their office looks like a million bucks. Sensing a slight problem with that "lure you in" technique.
