My husband was deployed and I chose this apartment because of the low price. My husband and I were saving up for a house and figured that this would allow us to save more money for a down payment. The club house was very nice, all of the employees were always very nice with the exception of the woman that you will read about at the end of the review, the neighborhood looked decent, and the model that we were shown was small but cute. So we signed the lease! Shortly after we moved in the problems began. The carpets were sopping wet on our move in day but we had to move in that day because we had just came from Ohio and had nowhere else to go. A few weeks later mold was growing under the capet in the living room and my 2 year old daughters closet. Maintenence refused to replace the carpet and just sprayed some chemicals on it. I'm only going to touch on the bug issue briefly, SPIDERS, ANTS, and "WATER BUGS" aka huge cockroach looking things were everywhere and they ignored every request to exterminate. The flusher broke off of my toilet and it took maintenence THREE months to replace it! We had to reach in the back of the toilet to flush it! The walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING. Our neighbors were completely disrespectful so that did not help. Our pictures on our walls would be shaking at 1 in the afternoon because of the music being played upstairs. When I would call the office and ask them to file a complaint or if they could send someone to request him to turn it down they would tell me that I had to go up and ask him. My husband was deployed and they expect me to take my two year old up to some strangers house' All they could say was "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do". There is a lot of jet noise up until 10 oclock at night in the summer, but that is to be expected in the area. The main reason that we left Emerald Point was because a police officer told us to! One night while my husband was working late, 5 men walked by my front window, fired 4 gun shots right outside my daughters bedroom window, and then scattered into the field accrossed the street! I called 911, the cops drove through the parking lot, did not even get out of the car, and left! I called 911 again, this time the officer came inside because he knew i was pissed. He said that this type of thing happens all the time around here and he would not be leaving his family here if he was in the military!! So my husband's ship got us out of our lease and we never looked back. I got a call from Emerald Point a few weeks ago saying that they were sending me to court for my final water bill. The water company had sent me my final bill, and I paid it in full. Emerald point said that I needed to get that money back from the water company and give it to them because they also paid the water company for my final bill, without telling me. When I did not understand how to go about doing this the woman on the phone told me that because i did not understand what she was saying she was sending it to the attorney and i would be charged an additional 33%! Just because I didn't understand her!!!! And she did! I got a collections notice in the mail a few weeks later! I of course paid it but I hated giving them the satisfaction of "winning" after they had been so immature. The quality of my apartment was nothing like the model. I felt like I was in the ghetto. I have never written a bad review about anywhere before, nowhere is perfect, I really just hope I can save someone the trouble. Being in the Navy my husband is gone a lot, I did not feel safe.
