My husband and I moved in with our 10 month old son 4 months ago and this place has been one huge headache! This may get long because I have a list of things that have gone wrong since we moved in
.) Hot water! The day we moved in our hot water ran out in our shower after about 10 minutes. I called maintenance and a guy came and tested our hot water heater and said it was reading that everything was ok. The next day I took another shower and I ran out of hot water again. I called maintenance again and another guy came out. He told me to take shorter showers and told me to wait about 30 minutes in between showers. (So my husband and I cannot get in after the other one gets out.) We have to wait. It is still like that and we just deal with it because obviously maintenance did not care and we were tired of calling them if they weren t going to do anything.
.) Outlets! I live in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment and some outlets do not work. You have to use floor lamps for lighting so if an outlet doesn t work, you have to move your floorlamp out of the way like we have to do to get light. I cannot blow dry my hair in our bathroom because EVERY time I have tried, it blows a fuse.
.) Bugs! We had an ant problem (along with spiders and earwigs) so I called the office to let them know. (This complex has an exterminator they use, but he only comes on Thursdays.) I called on Tuesday and he never came on Thursday like they said he would. He did show up 2 weeks later! But we took it upon ourselves to get rid of the bugs because when he didn t show up on the first Thursday we had to do something because we couldn t live around bugs. So WE took care of it.
.) Air Conditioner! I turned my AC on in March one day when it got hot and the unit turned on, but no AC ever came out. Then I turned it off after a few hours and it would not turn off! It kept running (so my power bill was going up even though we weren t getting air). That was in March and just recently (in June) my air would not work at all and it has been in the 90 s. I called maintenance and was told someone would come check it out. No one ever came so around 8:00 pm I called the emergency maintenance and I was told that no AC is not considered an emergency!! We have a 10 month old and it was almost 90 degrees in here! I swear!! I looked in our lease and saw a paper that said A note from maintenance and on that paper it did say that no AC was an emergency, so I called back and literally had to beg the girl to call somebody. She said she would call the emergency person, but it was up to them if they wanted to come or not because they do not come out after 5:00 for no AC. Thank God somebody had a heart and did come around 10:30 pm, but he said everybody that lives on the 3rd floor like us is calling and complaining. It s because we live right under the attic . We were told someone would come back and check it again . Still waiting . Although thankfully our air just came on by itself after about 5 days of not working.
.) Toilet! Our toilet stays clogged. We have to flush our toilet 2 or 3 times just to get a little piece of toilet paper to go down. Our toilet started leaking from the part that holds the water that is against the wall a few weeks ago. It flooded our bathroom and I called maintenance. (This one is a long story, but to make it short) . 6 different guys came over a 2 week period!! NO ONE ever fixed it and they all had a different theory of what was wrong with it. My husband had to fix it eventually because nobody from maintenance would.
.) Carpet! Our carpet is not stapled to the floor! It s like somebody cut the carpet for our apartment, laid it down, and left it. My 10 month old always pulls it up and gets the nastiness and puts it in his mouth!
.) Water bill!! This one is awful! Your water bill is every apartment in the complex divided by each unit, so everybody has the same water bill. Ours have been on average $50.00. I feel sorry for people who live alone because a water bill should not be that much for a small family! It should not be that much for our little family of 3, but that s what you have to pay.
.) Cable! You have to pay an extra $36 a month for cable . We have Cox cable so I called the office to let them know we didn t need their basic $36 cable anymore and they said we still have to pay it because it s part of our rent. So we pay our Cox cable bill $36 (for nothing) every month.
.) Parking! Parking is so bad! There is not enough parking for everyone. My husband and I have 1 car we share and we have to park like 5 minutes away from our apartment all the time because there is not enough parking.
.) Locks! When we moved in our lock on our front door was broken!! The locks on the porch doors are broken too (seriously, both of them). We use 2 pieces of wood for locks in our sliding doors because maintenance never fixed them like they said they would. And we called maintenance about our front door lock (which was just crazy that it was broken) and they did replace it, but our door is weird because our lock doesn t fit the hole in the side of the door correctly, so when the door is locked and you push it, it will almost come open. We have installed another extra lock ourselves because the deadbolt does not make us feel safe.
.) Pools! We were very excited to learn this complex has an indoor pool. When we movind in (in Feb) we went one day and we could not believe it . The indoor pool is not heated. It was FREEZING! We went back two more times just to try to swim in it, but we left after a few minutes and didn t go back. It s too cold to swim in Feb if the pool is not heated, (indoor or out!)
And the outdoor pool is not big enough for this complex. We have only been once and it was so crowded we left. The lifeguard was playing loud rap music and people were sitting around the pool getting drunk and smoking. We left with our baby.
.) Playground! I have taken my son to the playground twice and both times we have sat down and been around glass. I will not take him back. It s glass like broken beer bottles and me and another parent saw glass in a lot of spots on the playground. Plus the slide is not under a tree so it s so hot you can t even sit on it. It s pointless to go.

I m sure there are more things, but this is all I can think of right now. The area is great and we re only about 5 minutes from the oceanfront, but we are miserable in this apartment. We have talked about paying the $2000 and breaking our lease because it s that bad. The model apartment you will be shown is VERY nice. Ours does not look that that at all! I wish we could move today!!! I am being honest about everything I have written here and I am posting this review hoping it will save someone a lot of stress because we shouldn t have to live like this! Call the office and ask about cable, parking, maintenance staff (where do they get these people who know nothing'') . It s really that bad!
