Next month will be 2 years since I've moved in. I am ready to move, and I plan on before the year is up. I did not renew my lease, I'm on a flex lease (month to month) which is an extra $75 a month (ridiculous to say the least). Magically, my rent went from $755 to $795 without me knowing until I had to call someone in the leasing office earlier this week about something. Add in the "calculated" water bill, the cable bill (that they dont mention in the apartment book when showing the apartment) and the extra 75, I'm paying way too much for a small 1bedroom. I hate the area I'm in. The neighbors have absolutely NO regards or RESPECT for anyone. Some idiot plays his music so loud, the bass vibrates my windows. That whole family is loud, always want to be seen. My neighbor next to me in the other building, all he and his stupid gf do is fuss and fight all hours of the night. The walls are way too thin there. It takes too long to get simple things fixed. Every time I go in the leasing office, it looks like a scene from The Hills. Nobody looks like they want to help you. Sometimes I stand there for minutes while they pretend to be busy. There has been little water pressure in my shower since I've moved in, my faucets in both the bathroom and kitchen are messed up so water shoots all over the place. My dishwasher doesnt work, I used it once and standing water was in it when it finished, I called the leasing office and I don't know that the hell he "supposedly" did but it still does not work. My bathtub was never cleaned all the way. I have never taken a bath. The only plus is I had new carpet which cancels out because of all the other bs I have to deal with.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did do the walk-through with the form and spotted out every single thing I could! I will give them a 60 day notice and I will read my lease carefully, thanks for that. I don't trust the leasing office one single bit. Can you answer me something if you know? I asked one of the "very helpful" people in the office, do I have to give a 60 day notice and she said yes, but if you're on a lease you'll have to pay the 2 months, so I said to her that I'm not on a lease and she said, well okay you'll be fine then. I took it to believe that I don't have to pay for those two months, is this true?

If you are on a month-to-month flex lease then I believe you just have to give them 60 days notice of your intention to vacate. But you have to stay the 60 days. If you leave before then, then they will charge you for the time remaining. I would clarify with the manager of the leasing ofice, but that is my understanding. Let me know if they tell you oherwise.
