Only worth it if you get a renovated unit

I've lived in Maple Bay for about six months. I have had some good and some bad experiences here:
1. Poor customer service. I have sat ignored in their office for 30 minutes while they talked on the phone. My nieghbor and I have brought up issues with the office, such as squirrels in our attic, which have been completely ignored. The staff told us that there wasn't anything they could do about it.
2. On the other hand, our dishwasher broke and by the time we had arrived home from work, it had been fixed. Maintenance seems great, but the office staff is ditzy and unprofessional at times.
3. I have seen both the renovated and older apartments. Make sure you get a renovated unit. The kitchens are upgraded and the walls are painted and have crown molding. It just looks 100% better. I wouldn't pay these prices for an older unit that looks like it was built in the '70s.
4. Gym - you need to ask for a key at the front office every time you want to use it. This means you can only use it if the office is open.
5. We had a burglary attempt while living here. I'm not saying that the area is unsafe... just be sure to lock your doors.
6. The community is working on a lot of improvements, including a dog park, a new gym, and an office center.
7. Haven't had any noise complaints. The walls are relatively thick so it won't seem like you're living WITH your neighbor like it does in some apartment buildings.
8. If I had to move to Virginia Beach again, I would choose the pricier, but nicer apartments near Virginia Beach Town Center.
