First a little about me...Own 2 puppies, large breed...getting married in a couple weeks. Moved from the DC area to Va Beach/Norfolk area here in the last month. I moved into Maple bay about 2 1/2 weeks ago. 2 bedroom Townhome, 1200 sf...all new amenities. You can not beat the price. Same cost as what we were paying in nova for 600 sf studio.
We found Maple Bay through searching for pet friendly communities. This has been great so far for us. Dog poop bag stations throughout for when we walk the boys. I have used the new Gym and pool 4 times now, 9 1/2 feet deep on the pool! Sweet. I have had NO problems with any of the staff. From an initial descrepancy about what the price was (quoted different from website) to not having a washer and dryer, the staff has bent over backwards to make our place right. New A/C units kick out the cool air, new paint and carpet is a nice touch but the best is the new kitchens. We had ONE cabinet and pantry in our old place...now we got so many cabinets we dont now what to do.
I would also like to say that it feels secure in the neighborhood, which was a big thing. Lots of military families here, good people. A couple of punk kids here and there but where is that not going to happen' If you are thinking about renting, I suggest you take a look. We compared this to a couple of places in Norfolk, P town and Va Beach. We are literally within 2 miles of anything we could ever want. Walk to Guadalajara for Fajitas, new Sports bar wing place....I mean no matter what your need (Borders, Fedex, Kroger, dining at Aldo's, Target....literally everything is a mile away)...Laskin road can be kinda busy at times but the neighborhood is about 1/4 of a mile off the road so it is insulated a little.
My only and I mean only complaint is the noise. Between the F-18's and 264 (we got a unit a couple of doors down from it) it can be loud at times. We lived next to the metro up in Nova and this noise is not nearly as bad. Seems like the jets come in waves, but like I said unless you are from the quiet country you are pretty used to backround noise from time to time. Plus I just remind myself that those jets are protecting my freedoms and it aint so bad afterall.
I realize I have only been here for less than a month, but reading the rating before me I just cant understand where some people are coming from. Maybe they are upset they are having to rent or something but all I can say is good things about the property and the staff

is it possible to negotiate rent here? I really like the looks of the place but want to knock down the 1042 for the 2 bedroom to under 1000. Yea i know 1042 is great but I would like it to be better lol

We recently renewed our lease...and we shopped around first, not because we were unhappy, but because it's just good business. Nothing comes close. Can't imagine getting a 2BR under $1000. But it is well worth the small difference compared to the alternatives in the area.
