Where should I begin' My fiance and I moved into Mariner's Cove August of 2006. We've been nothing but miserable ever since we got here. We chose the apartment after viewing the model and being treated with the utmost respect by the staff. The location is prime and we were looking forward to living closer to the oceanfront. A week after we moved in a hurricane blew through, which caused the ceiling to leak. I thought, no big deal, since there was a LOT of water. The next morning the leak was about six feet in diameter, and dripping close to our electronics. We notified the management about the leak and that the ceiling needed to be repainted. We patiently waited for a week for someone to show up. We had to contact them again to let them know no one had shown up. The leak got fixed 2 weeks later, and the ceiling wasn't repainted until almost October.
In the meantime, the people upstairs have 3 kids which they allow to jump off furniture and it sounds like they're dropping bricks upstairs. At night when the neighbors "have relations" we should have just been in the bed with them it was so loud.
By this time we had already had standing water leak into the kitchen floor around the base of the cabinets. 2 times. November came around and the first weekend in November we came home to a LAKE on our kitchen floor. Ok, no problem we probably have a leak. We'll call the OH SO RELIABLE maintanence staff to come fix the problem. They got someone out there quickly and by the next day it was "fixed". Well, we went away for the weekend and came home to an even LARGER lake on our kitchen floor, a large gaping hole under our kitchen sink, and a small puddle on our bathroom floor. Now I was mad. We called six times for emergency maintanence, had to leave six messages over a period of 4 hours, and got NO response. We spent the night elsewhere since we didn't know what the problem was. The next morning we get a call from the apartment manager saying someone came by earlier that morning, but we weren't there, and was it ok to send someone out without us being there. Of course I said yes. We got home 8 hours later with a note on the door saying "They were sorry they missed us and didn't come in because NO ONE WAS HOME" Furiously, I decided to take pictures of what was behind the "mystery hole", and found a 10 inch maggot nest and about five inches of standing water just sitting IN the walls.
We ended up moving into another apartment, but in order to avoid having out rent increased for the same size apartment, even though we had only been there 3 months, we had to sign ANOTHER LEASE, starting in November. Which is the ONLY reason why we are still here.
So we move in and not even two days later it rains and the ceiling leaks. AHHHHHHH. I'm pissed. It takes them another 2 weeks to repair the leak.

Other things:
-ROACHES. They are not water bugs like the management says they are, they are ROACHES and they get in your apartment even if you keep it clean like we do.
-Closet space sucks.
-Employees working in the leasing office seemed annoyed when you need their help, even to pay rent.
-Noise. The neighbors upstairs in our SECOND apartment don't have kids, but they have a dog. One which barks CONSTANTLY from the time you get home until the time you go to bed. Since the walls are so thin, I go to bed with a headache every night from the constant barking.
-Whatever genious decided it was a good idea to build the apartment above us with their living room above our bedroom obviously did not think about the fact that every morning when the neighbors get ready at 5AM, we don't sleep either. When their front door slams, it shakes the pictures on our bedroom wall. Real annoying.
-I don't know why but the police like to make "courtesy calls" everyother week to the apartments across the street. It's kind of worrisome.
-Parking is for designated tenants. Yeah Right. They don't enforce towing unless you call the towing place yourself.

Basically, I'm writing this because I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to stay here. I'm trying to prevent what happened to us from happening to anyone else. Hope this helps.

I totally agree with this person. I don't know if the walls are like an inch thick or what, separating the ceiling to the above person's floor. It's either that or there are some 500 lb people that live above my apartment. My bf won't let me go up there and say anything because he thinks the kid is learning disabled or something. I don't have a problem with that...if he or she is, but they must know that they are being loud and that we don't want to hear Jack Johnson's Curious George c.d. all the time when they have their windows open.
