I lived in the ghetto

Ok, I want to start out by saying that there is too much negativity in this world, and this is a very negative site. I am not a negative person, I am a realist and the below are true and not exagerated stories of my living experience at this complex. There was one thing that I liked about living at the Palms - the space. It's a huge amount of space for a very cheap price. Well, when you pay for something cheap, that is generally what you get. We are living in 2004 and they were not equipped with dishwashers or washer and dryers. There were washers and dryers, but they were community washer and dryers for that particular building. The walls are thin, you can hear everything next door (word for word conversations at times). They are outdated apartments, but that didn't bother me so much. The windows were paper thin, they are single paned, and I had a whiffle ball come through mine. Parking is extremely horindous!! Just talking with other people, they are so amazed that I lived there because they would say that it is known to be a drug community. Need drugs' Well, the pay phone at the corner of Malibu Palms Drive was a good spot to score. There were constanly shady people at this phone. Do you know how scary it is, because there is no parking, and you have to park over by that phone, to walk to your house at night' Thank god nothing ever happened to me or my husband. Because of fights outside and my husband getting a gun pulled on him, I was constantly calling the police. I had few maintenance issues while I was there, and they generally got taken care of in a timely manner. Back on the parking issue, we went into the leasing office and told them the issues we were having and asked about permit parking. They said that they do not offer that, but we could park in the parking lot adjacent to us behind the Burger King. HAHAHAHA!! We took that wonderful advice and got towed ($75 down the hole). I have nothing wrong with children - children are wonderful, but there were many unruley children living near me. This children had what appeared to me little to no supervision. My husband and I would take our dog and dog hang out in the grass by this tree across from Burger King and a couple kids would come and talk to us. The little girls were great, but their brother was wild! I actually called the cops on his mother because my husband witnessed her punch him in his chest (he was about 7 years old). Um, I wonder why is was so wild and unruley' Please, if you are considering moving here, check online at the Virginia Beach Police website, because you can view the previous year crime statistics on what happened on this property. If this is the kind of place you would like to live, you have that choice. If you have children, please for their safety, reconsider. There are so many nice communities out there - please take your time and choose wisely. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
