Palms at Malibu

I completely agree...

I completely agree with the first posting. I hate to be negative, but the negatives far outweigh the positives of living at The Palms.
I've had the same parking problems - it is NOT safe to park on the street and there is NOT enough parking to give everyone two spaces.
There are NO outlets in my bathrooms! Granted, the building is old, but re-wiring for additional outlets is NOT a big expense or hassle - if you do it as you turn apartments (I know - I now work for a property management company). And only one phone jack in the living area (the kitchen, nonetheless!) is a problem in the 21st century!
My other complaint' The model has a dishwasher - what they failed to tell me was that VERY FEW of the apts. actually have one. You don't include something in a model that the majority of the apts. don't have. It's deceptive.
My electricity bill is DOUBLE ($200 /month in the summer) what it used to be because the units are so poorly insulated, the ac doesn't work right, so the apt. never gets cool and we spend a fortune trying!
Water is expensive as well - mostly because maintenance has yet to stop the dripping faucets.
Though I give my kudos to maintenance - they may not fix everything right the first time, but at least they show up in a timely fashion.
Walls are very thin, the residents downstairs party all weekend until 2 or 3 a.m. I'm not old - late 20s - but I am none too fond of being kept awake until the middle of the night with loud, raucous behavior.
I too have had to call the police on my neighbors - partially because I was afraid for my own safety. A friend who is w/ the local VA Beach fire station for that area updates us every time we see him with "we were at your complex again." When asked the cause of the fire' It's faulty electrical systems. And guess what' They're "rebuilding" the building that burned this fall - and all they did was replace the burned walls - NOT the entire interior structure. How safe can that be'
Children are unruly, pool isn't open enough (it was CLOSED the day after the 4th of July - a federal holiday!), and I refuse to be there alone at night for safety reasons.
Bottom line - make your own decision, but spend a little more and live elsewhere. It's not worth it.
