Pleasant place to call home with a few hiccups.

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I lived in a 3 bedroom with my wife and child. The apartment itself was roomy and the 2 baths were nice. We have two indoor cats and it was nice to find a place that took pets. We occasionally had maintenance issues and the maintenance staff always was wonderful. The appliances were only ok. They were all low end models with some age. My wife was never happy with the dishwasher and ran every load twice. The complex has many children and there is no where for them to play. There are always kids wandering around between the buildings. There is a pool during the summer but I frequently walked down there to find them randomly closed or on a long break. That was frustrating when you have a child excited to swim and a teenager on her cell phone tells you that she is on a brake and come back in 30. Not that they don??t deserve breaks, but the log book usually showed no one had used the pool all day so why take your break at 5:30pm when people are getting home from work.
Parking with a permit was fine but visitor parking is extremely limited. And like most apartments in Va Beach tow companies patrol way to frequently for anyone??s taste.
Noise is sometimes an issue. We had some bad neighbors who blasted music at 3am for about two weeks but then it stopped. Ambulances and emergency vehicles do frequently drive by as well as dozens of schools buses every morning and afternoon. They do allow pets, so there is dog barking sometimes. And we had a woman with 3 kids above us who were wrestling fans. Still we found the place peaceful most of the time.
Like many places your experience is greatly affected by your neighbors and ours were diverse and friendly.
The location is great with easy commute traffic east or west and convenient shopping. We always felt safe at the location though we did have guests whose hub caps were stolen over-night. There seems to be high turn over in the office because I never saw the same people twice. The staff relies heavily on packages of documents they have for incoming and out going tenants and do not know the area well or the tenants. The documents are generic and not well written, when we moved in all of the driving directions to the post office and other important locations were incorrect. However we had no real issues with the office staff.
Maintenance of the grounds is excellent. Maybe even too much so because it seemed like they cut the grass a little too often and the sprinklers run frequently. I was unhappy that they only clean the walkways every 6 months with a power washer and it was done poorly when it was done. We got ants in our place but never saw any other pests. The storage unit was useful and kept our stuff safe and dry.
I would recommend the location but would ask to see which unit you were getting and go and see if your neighbors have a big dog before signing anything. There are also other complexes near by which don??t take pets but might be competitive.
