I moved in here with my boyfriend in May, and overall we are pretty happy. One realllllly great thing about this place is that if you work with ANY law enforcement or public safety, you get a discount, each month for the rent. We are both public safety officers, so we save about $30 a month. Which is good, because our pet rent for our 9lb cat is $35. So it pays for itself.
A couple of things though. The day we moved in the A/C was broke-it did not work. Randy from maintinance came the next day however, and worked until 1740 to fix our a/c...he got off at 1700 and it was nice to see he cared about the work he did, or at least that we were hot. Of course, when I needed maintinence for the leaky faucet, that was such poor response time...it took about a week and a half, and then they didn't fix it-my boyfriend had to go buy that white faucet tape and fix it himself:/
I just got stung by a hornet on saturday, and it turns out it carried tetnus. So if you don't have your most up to date tetnus shot, be vary careful. The entire complex is surrounded by a marsh, and there are some nasty bugs! it also can smell(natural marsh enviornment, but still...) In the winter now it is not that bad, but man, in the summer and spring there were horse flies everywhere-and they attack! We were not even able to go on the trail in the marsh during the summer because of this.
If you live in a complex that has other pets(ie, upstairs neighbor, etc,) you will have to buy the flea drops for your animal. Our cat is an inside only cat, but she got fleas from the other pets in the apt. I now have to buy the drops...that sets me back about $40 every 4 months.
If someone with a kid(s) lives above you, you will hear them running all day. We have had to complain many times.
Parking-there are plenty of spaces, and the only reason I didn't rate it higher was due to the fact that you really can't use them because the line for the space that is painted on the road is drawn crooked and narrow. Be careful on this one as well. Also, I ride my bike at night to work and a lot of the lights do not work. If I didn't know how to defend myself it would def. be a problem.
I think that is about it. Overall (I know it sounds like a lot of bad things,) it is a good place. It is NOT the best place, but if you need a place to stay, and don't have a lot of money, this is an ideal choice. We live right next to where we work, so I can just take 10 minutes and bike to work. The banks are right here. And the highway and major roads.
So are the jets, so be prepared for that xD
Also, there is a good gym, and a pretty swimming pool. One lifeguard was Russian, and another Swedish-so they don't discriminate on hiring ppl :)
Oh yeah-probably the best perk-there is a Starbucks coffee/cocoa maker in the leasing office that you can have whenever you want! Takes 30 seconds for it to dispense the liquid gold into your cup. There is also tazo tea, and many refreshments like brownies or muffins, that are for you whenever you want them.
We won't stay here too terribly long, but I enjoy living here. It sure is eventful! And no, there is not a crime problem here-in fact 2 state troopers live here along with many fireman, security officers, and public safety officers..I feel quite safe-I walk around the complex at night all the time.
