Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
I can?t even believe the changes!!! When I first rented my apartment here two years ago, the property was owned by Beach Management Company, and the property, staff and everything about Runaway Bay was perfect. They used to have resident activities and do things like renting big screen t.v.?s for superbowl parties in the clubhouse, and pig roasts in the summer. It was great. The manager at the time was wonderful. A very classy lady with a staff to back her up. Then came the changes when a new management company took over. Along with that came a new property manager also...a very young girl who didn?t seem to have any idea what she was doing. The good part was that the rest of the staff stayed the same. Slowly things started to change for the worst. They installed meters so we had to pay for water, and no lie in two years my water has gone out at least 15 times. Cars are broken into because although Runaway Bay is okay, the area around it isn?t. The property behind us used to be Section 8. Now they?ve remodeled to where the outside looks better, but it?s still the same people on the inside. Maintenance has gotten bad. For the past year and a half I have only allowed the maintenance supervisor to handle my work requests because he?s the only one I trusted to get the job done right the first time. Apparently now he works at another property also. Within the past year the office staff has changed. The original manager whom I loved came back and things started to look up. Then within the last few months I don?t know what happened, but it was like a chain reaction with the staff. The leasing agent who moved me in (that I could always count on to make sure my requests/concerns were heard, and even watched my cat for me while I was away) left for a new job. Then the manager left, then everyone else left but one person, and she?s the only one left of the original staff. Hmmm...kinda makes you wonder why when the entire office staff at your apt. complex leaves!!''!! I?ve heard it all. I?m lucky enough to have been neighbor?s with the maintenance girl?s friend, so I?ve heard MORE than I wanted to know!!! It works out to be benneficial to us residents to have a chronic gossip working for management!! She tells it all.
As of recently we have a new manager and staff who are straight out of the ghetto and need to go to work somewhere where their trash talk will be more accepted. I don?t pay my rent with wefare and certainly don?t need to be spoken to as if I do. They are the talk of the entire property now. What a joke!! The last time I went to the office to voice my concern about the new parking policy (you have to pay $100 a year now for a parking space), when the girl finally decided to stop talking about her soap opera with another co-worker five minutes later, her reaction to my comment was "I?m sorry but dat ain?t be my problem. You?ll hasta take dat up wit da manager." I WAS APPALLED at not only her language but her total lack of regard for my concerns. This girl is rude, unprofessional and obviously uneducated and I can?t believe they would hire someone who would carry themselves in that manner. I guess that says a lot for the new manager who allows this to go on.
So, are you still wondering if you should give Runaway Bay a try. Two/Three years ago I would?ve said most definitely. Now, I will not be renewing my lease and I would highly recommend checking into this management company and other places owned by them. There must be some crooked stuff going on to change what was once such a wonderful place into such a dump. Enter at your own risk!!!!!!!
