I moved to Virginia Beach for a job with little or no prior knowledge about the area. Runaway Bay was the first of many complexes I looked at, and the employee I talked with (Jackie) told me I would be back. After a full day spent looking all across the city, I did indeed go back. I could not be happier with my choice.

Despite several issues (I needed to move in that day; "Not a problem." I could only pay with a credit card; "We take all major credit cards.") I was given the keys within a matter of hours.

Maintenance as well as office staff has always been friendly, prompt and attentive.

Pets are welcome, including large dogs, and many residents have at least one pet. This, and the large Navy population, make meeting your neighbors easier.

The complex is located within a couple miles of I-264, Virginia Beach Blvd., Town Center/Pembroke Mall, countless restaurants, grocery stores, bars, thrift stores, etc. Also close to Mt. Trashmore, a nice park/recreation area.

Nothing is perfect, of course. I do hear the neighbor above me walking around, but I haven't heard much in terms of loud music or parties. Some areas where multiple buildings share one parking lot can be crowded. The office has nice amenties (Internet, fitness center, tanning) but is not 24 hours, which is frustrating for a white-collar stiff like myself.

All in all, I'm glad I went back to Runaway Bay and have already considered renewing my lease when it is due.
