My husband and I lived in a two-bedroom apartment at Windsor Lake for 12 months from 2006-2007. The apartment was on the 2nd floor with a view of the lake. We really enjoyed the view and the lake for evening walks. The apartments are big - especially the balcony is incredible - it almost serves as a patio/deck.
The kitchen has a window as does the dining room so the entire apartment is really sunny! The complex is really very quiet - we never heard anything from our neighbors (such as parties or people hanging around outside). Not a lot of military, it seemed more like young professionals that are temporarily staying in Virginia Beach or young couples.
The leasing office staff was always very nice and after we moved out we received our full security deposit back within 3 weeks (minus the carpet cleaning cost, which they had however, informed us about before we moved in). The gym, jacuzzi and swimming pool are very nice too. Although you have to pay $1 per guest at the pool and you are only allowed to bring to guests. We spent many days enjoying the pool and the BBQ and we can definitely recommend the amenities that Windsor Lake has to offer.
Parking was great, we always found a spot very close to our apartment and even when we had guests stay for a couple of days, they always found a spot.
However, we did have a pest control problem from the first day that we moved in and although our apartment got sprayed twice a month - you always had a dead roach in some corner or under the sink. Especially at night you could see them run around the deck if you turned on the outside light. Management really did not seem to think to much of it and did not do anything to solve our problem. We moved to a different apartment complex after our rent got raised and although we really miss the balcony during the day and the lake (especially the view), we are very happy, that we do not have to cope with those disgusting bugs any longer.
